turkey day

Juices did not run clear.

In the past decade's worth of Thanksgivings, my sister-in-law has cooked 7 turkeys. Only 5 of those 7 were not still raw. Bland (there has been plenty of that) I can deal with, dry (would require cooking) I can cover with gravy. But still raw and oozing pink juices onto the platter? No. Just no.

I love my family. I am thankful for them. I would do, and have done, just about anything for them. But I am not ever again risking food poisoning and an angry husband just for the sake of "but it's a holiday!".

I am either going to plan to be out of town at Thanksgiving next year or start licking doorknobs and grocery store cart handles a week before, in hopes of catching the flu.

(p.s. the pig candy rocked.)

  3. Sounds like she needs to do a bit of research on cooking.

  4. Sounds like a probe thermometer would make a nice gift.

I'd be lost (and most likely sick) without mine.
