It's Halloween...

...and you know what that means! All of us librarians are able to cut loose a bit, dress up, and have some fun.

Our regular uniform gets so boring...

No, seriously, I've got the day off and have lots of things planned. I'm taking one of my past gunchicks, Connie, to the range again this morning. She is shopping for her first pistol! So I'm letting her try out the Bersa .380, the S&W model 19, the Norinco .45....and maybe a .22 rifle, just for fun. I'd like her to explore different calibers to see what she likes best. (And then I'll talk her into getting her CCW.)

Afterwards, I have to run to the store and get the fixins for chili and cornbread, a Halloween tradition at the Fallacy house. (& by fixins I mean shredded cheese, sour cream and the like because my mom always makes the chili. Thank you, Mom.) I might carve a little jack o'lantern, because, really...what is Halloween without pumpkin guts?

And then I have to get ready for the big Halloween bash at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. My friend Nicole works at the museum and got us tickets - I'm so excited! I was going to wear my green velvet Ren Faire dress but Nicole is wearing her Ren Faire stuff, corset and all, so I thought I needed to do something a bit different...

You'll have to wait for the photos, but I'll give you a hint. I'll be wearing large purple wings.

  1. I googled "purple wings" and wound up with an entry at the Urban Dictionary.

    Maybe I need more hints.

  2. If the cream has already soured (e.g. spoiled), why does it still have an expirations date???? :-)

  3. Is the Norinco .45 a new pistol? I thought I understood that you didn't have a 1911 yet.

  5. We don't have any trick-or-treaters coming up the long stairs anymore, so it's a quiet night for us. I'm tired of carving the Michaelangelo of pumpkins and we don't eat them anyhow.

  6. Here at the estate, we are planning for around 40 or so gobblins ghouls and zombies (children dressed as, not the real thing.) Then it will be a quiet evening watching movies. Have fun at the Cleveland Museum. It has been 40 years since I was there.

  8. Breda, the lovely and (unfortunately not like this) costumed Mrs. Borepatch says that her friend with the Halloween store has exactly this naughty librarian costume.

She blamed her friend's husband for ordering it. Me, I don't blame him at all.

    OK, I'm a dawg. I still don't blame him ...
