pretty smart for a blonde

Nancy Pelosi’s big, arrogant smile suddenly drops and she looks over to the Republican side of the room with the mean glare of a stern librarian!
- Victoria Jackson, on Obama's latest string of lies speech.

Hey, I don't glare! Wait, no - I do. But still - what is with all the shushing, hair-in-a-bun, crazy cat lady, stern librarian stereotypes?

I think I've shared with you that when I was a little girl, my favorite librarian actually *was* a little elderly lady with her hair in a bun, glasses on a chain, and a cardigan for every day of the week. She didn't glare, though.

My favorite librarian stereotype moment is in It's A Wonderful Life: the climax, the absolute bitter WORST THING that would have happened if George Bailey had never lived? His would-be wife is an OLD MAID LIBRARIAN. Oh horrors. She even wears GLASSES and DOWDY CLOTHES.

Obviously neither Victoria Jackson nor Frank Capra had any idea that there could ever be a librarian as hip and attractive as Breda.

Breda, I really don't understand the obsession many of you have with calling people you disagree with liars. It's not limited to the pro-gun folks, it goes beyond your ranks. But, what does it really accomplish?

Oh, lookie, lookie, lookie. It's that annoying widdle baby troll, he's back. He's widdling again.

Probably due to deeply ingrained memories of running (or jumping down the stairs) afoul of an older, tired, rather dowdy (and/or underpaid) lady librarian when we were 3-4 years old?
Just a guess.

I spent ten years on the Board of Trustees of a large library district in Colorado. I've got to confess that in fourteen branches we didn't have many hotties.

It actually is a terrible insult to liken the Wicked Witch of San Francisco to a librarian. Her glare was more like Medusa.

Meanwhile, let's commend Joe Wilson. When the lies are obvious and delivered with such pomposity, one would find it difficult to accept quietly. Let us also not allow the left to dis-remember the boos they offered George W. Bush in his state of the union address.

I just visited Joe Wilson's campaign web site. It is really easy to contribute a few bucks. He's a guy who should stay in his job.

The boos Bush received from civilians in an open forum cannot be compared to what this boorish Congressman did in one of the most hallowed settings of our government. You're rationalization is laughable. Whatever happened to respect for the office if not for the man? Isn't that supposed to be a conservative characteristic, or is that only when one of your own is in office?

Congress, booing at Bush: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/10/flashback-democratic-etiquette-in-the-bush-era/

Also? Find somewhere else to troll. Not only are you stupid, but you're tiresome too.

When Congressional Dems boo Bush during a Presidential speech it's no big deal, but when Rep. Wilson does it to Obama it's suddenly a huge issue. Gotta love the double standard.

I'm glad he did it. Obama is a liar and should be called out as such.

Breda - MikeB is ignorant of virtually everything on which he chooses to comment.

Mike, the object n life is to go through it without constantly showing your ass.

You're doing it wrong.

Mike B;

Too stupid to get it? One reason(of many) we disagree with them is THAT they are lying.

Breda, Thanks for that link to the video of Bush's speech. I would call what he received more like grumbling disapproval rather than booing. And it's a far cry from yelling out "you lie."

And you know what's funny? Just like the stunts some of you guys pulled carrying guns at the presidential appearances to make your point, this stunt will backfire too. Openly carrying the guns made you look like a bunch of nuts, and yelling out at the President and trying so hard to defend that action, makes you look like a bunch of nuts. It's counter-productive to your cause.

Let us all savor the irony of an internet troll who blogs under a fictitious biography, and who spends his time inventing logical fallacies to work Joyce Foundation "Studies" into the realm of reality, is telling us what is productive and counter-productive, and what makes us "look like nuts".

That is impressive!

Keep telling yourself that, son. I love the smell of magical thinking in the morning.

Um, when Mikeb says "The boos Bush received from civilians in an open forum cannot be compared to what this boorish Congressman did in one of the most hallowed settings of our government" does he also apply that same reverential standard to the presidential seal on the oval office carpet atop which Slick Willie purportedly inserted a cigar into an intern's pikachu? I'm just saying there are some startlingly disparate ideas about what is, in fact, respectful and upon whom, specifically, the rules should be enforced. Or not.

Our government should be responsive to us, and not the other way around. They are OUR servants, and should bloody well act accordingly. If an elected representative does not act according to the will of their constituents, they should be fired forthwith. It's time we ALL vote with the same gravity we expect of our legislators.
