bleak

There are few things as dismal as February in Cleveland - the wind howls in from the lake, the sky hangs low over your head and you begin to dream of color. For months now the world has been relentlessly gray and I always catch myself mid-sigh as I look out the window.

While I'm still layering on sweaters and scarves, spring has already arrived for some - I've heard rumors of mild days and pear blossoms. Sunshine is inevitable and it will arrive as it always does. Someday. I let that thought inspire me against the gloom.

But today, I've closed the drapes and am ensconced on the sofa with a cup of ginger tea because it's snowing. Again.

  1. It's blah here as well...

I'll be (not so) patiently waiting for color right along with you.

  2. Well, you at least get snow, in the Great Northwest that is rare - until you go up the mountainsides. Still reaching for my sunglasses on Thursday meant that motorcycle and outdoor shooting weather wasn't far away - and I seem to have had both, now the rainy drizzle has returned until March maybe, it is good to live in interesting times.

disester wv not quite a disaster?

  3. What the Mrs. and I miss the most about Atlanta is the spring. By this time, the flowers would be poking.

I guess I should be grateful, since I haven't had to run the snowblower in weeks, but it's New England, so there's a good 2 months left before I can put it up for the summer.

  5. Add a couple of kitties and it will be a much improved scenario. That's what we do here. It always works.

  6. +1 to the kitty part. Maybe a good book, too.

  7. A good cup of Irish coffee should put you right (use real cream).

  8. Minneapolis, this weekend, feels like a ski resort. Clean, fresh snow, 20 degrees, no wind, and an astoundingly clear sky.

    Perfect weather for winter play.

(I, of course, am laid up with a cold.)

  12. Maybe you need a new T-shirt. I was reading a webcomic today, came across this and totally thought of you.

  13. Speaking of QC, why not check that out? The artwork starts out a little rough, but Jeph gets the hang of it pretty quickly. The writing is the best part; I'd recommend it highly, addictive or otherwise.

The end of Feb. and your feelings about it means "The Weekend" cannot be far away.

Which weekend will that be this year?
