Breda, As I recall, Lincoln only "freed" the slaves in the states that had seceded. This was territory that was not under his control and thus his "freeing" them consisted of empty words. Which admittedly is very similiar.

Lincoln's freeing of slaves in the south was done more to punish the south than out of a interest in human rights...
ReplyDeleteBy today's standards Lincoln would be labeled one of the worst racists in the nation.
