let me show you it.
My daily pocket protector- a Benchmade, given to me by one of my beloved, yet anonymous, readers. I really like that attractive little bevel on the top edge and the satisfying "snick" sound it makes when I open it.
I also just realized I probably shouldn't have put it on my desk at the library, right out in the open, to take the photo. Back in the pocket!
More meme: Weer'd World. And JayG. And Og. And North. And, uh...everyone else.

neat!
My Buddy the Gun Enthusiast has posted a photo of what's in his pockets, including his mini-emergency Altoids tin kit.
I'm going to work on mine this weekend - once I eat all the chocolate covered mints - and will post a photo once I'm finished.
What's in your pockets? (pics!)

tool users
Marko and Tam's recent discussion on the essential usefulness of having a good blade on your person proved to be quite timely...
Seems scientists found that we hominids have been using the sharp & stabbies much longer than previously believed - like almost one million years longer. Naturally, this early tool use was all about obtaining delicious and nutrient-packed animal flesh, which is said to have been an important factor in the development of the modern human brain. (Hooray!)
To celebrate this wonderful, yet not-so-surprising discovery, perhaps we should all do something primal and carnivorous - like roast up some marrow bones and buy ourselves a new pocketknife.
This one holds a prominent spot on my wishlist:

heads up
After reading about the gurhka who was disciplined for beheading a Taliban, I realized that I had a miniature version of the kukri knife that was most likely used to do the deed.
Made by in Nepal by the official Kukri suppliers to Ghurkas, this knife was a birthday gift from a dear friend and a very welcome addition to my growing collection of sharp and stabbies.
(historical side note: Guess who else seemed to take heads in battle?)
