Students killed with a gun!
In a GUN-FREE ZONE...
Again.
Eyewitness Lauren Carr had two options. She said,"I could get up and run or I could die here."
She and the others trapped in that classroom had no means of defending their own lives.
The school was able to test their new "security plan". Within 20 minutes of the shooting, officials posted a message on the school's Web site about a report of a possible gunman on campus and warning students to "get to a safe area and take precautions until given the all clear."
Police arrived on scene within 2-3 minutes. By this time, the gunman had already committed suicide, after killing 6 and wounding many others.

tragic when good people are stripped of viable means of self-defense. tsk tsk.
2-3 mins is a VERY quick responce time, and look at the aftermath.
Note in this armed household some of that time will be me getting my trigger lock of my 1911.
Don't I feel safe?
I'm just over a mile from TWO police stations. I went to school with a couple of the cops, went to prom with one of the highup's daughters.
I wouldn't expect anything under 3 minutes on a "slow" day.
we all know what the definition of insanity is right...demanding to be disarmed AND safe at the same time...well, not quite, but if the shoe fits.
"When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."
Trite but true.
I overheard one student talking about it today, and of course I saw it in the net news. But aside from the ammo it gives the Brady Bunch, I don't much care. Sad but true. You have those rules, esp. in a gun-grabbing state like IL, and you'll get that result.
