...sigh...part II

Turns out that one of the paraprofessionals working here at the library has a son who goes to NIU. He was in the building 10 minutes before the shooting happened, and said that he now believes that he passed the shooter in the hall on his way back to his dorm.

The librarians, feeling safe and protected in a gun-free zone, are in a bit of a tizzy saying, "These days, you'd better send your kids to college with bulletproof vests!"

Nice thought...
but bulletproof vests don't help much when you get shot in the head.

They also do no good if you're shot with a rifle..... or anything chambered for 7.62 Tokarev.

the librarians might feel safe because they're in a "gun free" zone, but all that means is that is some nut walks in and starts shooting none of the patrons can stop it.

I don't go anyplace other than my bank that I can't carry. Malls included. If that means I shop online, so be it.

something you might want to keep an eye on... http://www.news4jax.com/news/15344000/detail.html

he hasn't used it, but it seems like this is becoming more and more popular. i'm just hoping the guy's a townie and "didn't realize" he was on school property...
