Guess what?!

Lake County, Ohio is awesome.

It took them 6 days - yes, only SIX! - to process and approve our CCW applications. I'm driving out to the sheriff's department tomorrow morning to pick them up.

And then I will put on my pistol and make some excuse to go to the grocery store. People might wonder why I'm smiling.

Congratulations!

Yet another person who has shouldered the responsibility of their own defense. It is a milestone in your life, like the first time you bought a car.

I'm glad you two will be armed and ready in the gravest extreme.

Congratulations! A girl living in Baltimore City in the Peoples Republic of Maryland can only dream of a day like this. Thank you for the vicarious thrill!

6 DAYS?
I'm in Oklahoma, it took 6 MONTHS.
Had my fingerprints done at the sheriffs office, I sent off the paperwork and $125.00 and waited and waited and waited. I got a letter back two months later saying the fingerprints were illegible.
i went through it all again (not the $125.00) and waited.
Rinse and repeat.
I finally went to Oklahoma City OSBI and had them done there.
Finally got my licence last month.
My son starts college this fall, and I'll be living alone for the first time in 20 years. I feel more secure now.
I bought a .38 S&W airweight (with a laser sight) my vision is horrible, but I CAN see that little red dot.
It's not as fun as the old-fashioned way, but it makes me feel more confident, because, I won't shoot my dog (or foot) by accident.

For some reason, getting the licence makes me feel all grown-up and responsible and everything.

Rock On! Even if I'm feeling too lazy to carry, or its too hot to wear anything thick enough to conceal a gun, I always carry when I go to the grocery store. See, the nearest grocery store to me is a Publix, which is a fiercely anti-gun corporation. I suppose I should boycott them... but I feel a lot sneakier carrying a gun in their store when there is nothing legally they can do to stop me.

Enjoy exercising your rights (err, now that you have permission to....)

Congratulations and welcome aboard. Off to Walmart you go!! In Franklin County, they are taking as little as 24 hours for issuance. They're doing an incrediable job at most all of the Ohio Sheriff Depts.

Excuse to go the the grocery store? The diet is over, you two need beer and bacon to celebrate.

Congratulations! The joke used to be to go to Wal-Mart for ammo and nachos.
Maybe Wallyworld is out now that they trample the 2nd. Seriously, congratulations and be safe.

I am very proud of you and Mike, although I secretly hold that the 2nd Amendment said you could forever and always for the very reasons that April 19, 1775 remains important - you are supposed to be on the green, standing up to be counted. Now I recommend some cover, concealment and tactical practice because war has gone real high tech, lucky most of us will never need it, standing up scares all the fools that thought they had a better idea.

Once you go to the grocery store, or anywhere else, while armed, you will automatically be hyper-aware of others who are also carrying.

I don't need to explain, you're plenty smart. You'll see what I mean.

>People might wonder why I'm smiling.

Guess it depends on your carry style ;)

Excellent news, Breda!

6 DAYS! Wow that's awesome Breda. Around here it's "may issue" and usually takes at least a couple months.

I carried concealed the whole time at the Texas Library Association 2008 meeting recently. Didn't like the idea of walking around downtown Dallas at lunchtime without my piece.

I did have to leave it in the car once, though, to visit the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, as they have one of those blasted 30.06 signs posted at the entrance...

Where will you hide a pistol with that youthful and vivacious figure?

Congratulations, and I'm a little
jealous. It will be a long time
before Illinois becomes so
reasonable. Be aware and feel
confident.

Soooo jealous! I got fingerprinted on February 13th, and I'm coming up on the 90-day cutoff for them to either gimme my permit or gimme a good reason why they won't issue it. 6 days sounds like heaven.

Congrats Breda! Walk confidently.

Six days?!? Mine's been processing for about six weeks now (my husband's arrived in the mail last week). State of Kansas. Sigh.
