May Day!

While reading Labrat's discussion of breasts, I was reminded that along with International Workers' Day today is also the old pagan Irish festival of Bealtaine, the time to celebrate the coming fertility of summer, light a fire, crown the May Queen and dance around a maypole, which of course symbolizes...

(This odd little scene is from the 1973 film The Wicker Man, considered the sixth greatest British film of all time.)

If that's only the sixth greatest Brit Film ever, I have some questions regarding 1-5 and what strings they pulled to get their position.

I have not seen, nor will I ever see the Nick Cage remake of Wicker Man. You could make me be Punch and have a viewing of the remake the only course of escape, and I'll just sit there, thankyouverymuch.

Also, that may be classified as a horror movie, but damn if it isn't right up there with the invention of baby oil and cowboy hats on cute girls in terms of sexiness. The islanders' attitude and lack of silicon really sell it.

Finally, much obliged for the linky love. :)
