um...

Something is happening. The SWAT team has been called to a store (or a home?) across the street from the library.

UPDATE: apparently the police thought that the entire department and a SWAT team was needed to investigate a burglar alarm. Your tax dollars at work.

This proves you do not need a gun to protect yourself. See? The police could respond to your emergency immediately!

Lucky you!

If I had to guess, these SWAT dudes are reading your blog and decided to show off in front of a hottie gun-owning, good cook, petite powder keg with their knees bent running about bouncing behavior.

holy snikies! There are only two houses there...and I seem to recall they aren't exactly posh or anything.

A SWAT team for a burglar alarm?

And why does a small town in Ohio need a SWAT team?

Good thing there weren't two alarms, they would have had to activate the National Guard.

Easy there, Breda-- they've got to respond to the best information that they have. If they send in Officers Reed and Malloy to investigate what they have been told is absolutely a burglary in progress, and Ofcrs. R. & M. get shot, and they had other resources available to effectively overcome and capture the burglars, then someone's going to feel very badly about this, and say (correctly)that they should use the rescources.

Who knows how the call went? "I heard the alarm go off, and there was someone in there!" (Yeah, you knob, it was the manager of the business, setting the motion alarm and locking up and leaving, forgetting that the cat was in there.)

I've a friend who's a firefighter, who says that just about every residence fire that he rolls up to, there'll be some idjit who hasn't the first clue about the residents in the house, who will meet them at the curb saying, "I think there's someone inside!!!" This, when there's no one home. This of course demands a very aggressive entry to the house with SCBA and thermal locators by men who should be outside of the house putting the fire out, rather than inside risking their lives.
