Where, pray tell, does that "Progress" poster come from?
I found the image on the Obama website, in his "store", under "artists for Obama". Sadly, all sold out.
Funny how we keep seeing Obama material that so closely resembles commmunist art/propaganda.You'd think they'd try to avoid doing that.
He's gonna be ROALLY fucked after the convention, and the general election-types want to talk about issues. You know the tangible things about what a president does to earn his paycheck?
The first artist to really make a theme of the socialist realism style was doing it quite consciously and deliberately.I'd suspect that if that's not his work, others have begun aping him, conscious or not.
Check out the posters at the links below.Obama's campaign is following the New Deal style. Depersonalized human images, Large-superscale idealized images of nature (no industry yet, but industry was fashionable in the thirties the way nature is now). The New New Deal scares me much more than communism-- wolf in sheep's clothing more than a wolf.http://faculty.washington.edu/qtaylor/images/new_deal_wpa.jpghttp://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?wpapos:2:./temp/~ammem_sA4e:http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?wpapos:540:./temp/~ammem_w44Q:http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?wpapos:482:./temp/~ammem_w44Q:
I'm sorry, that stuff is just plain creepy. I thought it was a joke, a takeoff on the commie posters... but it's FOR REAL!?!??!Is this 2008 or 1984?
Good enough to convince me, I wasn't voting for all of the above anyway.
Shiny happy people holding hands.
I suppose bullshit does make good fertilizer.......
