in vino veritas

My mother lives next to a very dangerous man. I knocked on his door just to say hello and suddenly I was in to his basement surrounded by lots of little wine barrels, glass in hand.

I sampled. And sampled. And then there was food to taste with the wine of course - almonds, chocolate, olives, peppered sausage and oh, God, the stilton.

I can't be trusted with stilton.

And my glass was refilled, as if by magic, again and again. My husband, bless him, saw that I was becoming a little too giggly than was wise and took me home.

I slept very, very well.

I coulda used a couple barrels of vino after a weekend spent in (Northern) hillbilly hell...

Sounds like you had fun, tho'!

I'm guessing it wasn't the blue cheese that made you giggly.

Or drowsy.

Hmm, the things one will find on the internet, sounds like you have found a new friend. Don't let that one go.

Stilton.....

The cheese shop near my home sells (wait for it!):

Stilton With Mango

I'd try it, but they say it's a gateway cheese.

Actually, I have tried Danish blue, alternated with sips of red wine and slices of ripe Bartlett pears. Yum!

Anytime you require an escort and food-taster (and wine-taster) - just to make sure you don't eat or drink anything that won't be good for you, you understand - may I apply for the job?

Char-grilled filet mignon wrapped in smoked bacon topped with stilton cheese and port wine shallot sauce.
The best way to enjoy stilton that I can remember!
Sounds like boring Sundays will be a thing of the past for you Breda; good deal!

Oh, just perfect. Now I'm hungry and want booze and I'm at work.

Curse all of you.
