Bristol

It happens so quickly...a heartbeat, ten perfect toes, a face. I have seen a miracle - infinite potential created from a single, small moment in time. And even if it's conceived under less than ideal circumstances, I wouldn't ever call a baby, a new human life, a punishment.

So a young girl had an error in judgment...but she has been treated with love and compassion and has been given unconditional support. She has chosen life - may she know the full joy of it.

*not interested in the pro-choice/pro-life debate. If you simply must have that argument, do it elsewhere, because I don't want to hear it. My views on the topic will not change.

Very well said.

A child (or grandchild) is not a politcial pawn - it is a gift.

Best writing I've read on this topic, be it blog or MSM. Nuf said.

Well, back to going to make the world a better place for prisoners, churches, people in general and those wonderful women that have loved and bring forth the better future in their babies.

Bristol had a great role model, Her mom who made the correct choice for Trig.
I have spent my whole 50+ years living with my Mom's correct choice. My older brother has Down Syndrome and even with his limitations, he never fails to teach us "smarter and faster" family and friends life lessons every day. I never regretted having an exceptional brother, and I have nothing but honor and respect for families who take them into their hearts.

I am glad Bristol has the love and support she needs.

I wish more girls in her position had that.

I can't stand the media coverage on this. Its not Bristol's fault her mom did something that put her in the public spotlight, and she's sure not the first teenage girl to make that decision. She's just one of the lucky one's whose family will ensure that she and her child (and the baby's father if he so chooses) will have all the support needed.

The thing that really pisses me off about the whole situation is that she's a minor; she's only 17. She should be off limits to the press. Even when Chelsea Clinton was CAMPAIGNING for her mom, the press laid off her, and she's something like 27. How is it Bristol is fair game when Edwards is getting a pass for his dirtbaggedness? 2008 is the year that journalism died.

Journalism died long before 2008. It's just that you now recognize the smell of the rotting corpse.

For roundabout 200,000 years the desires that young Ms. Palin yielded to has driven the spread of humanity across the face of the Earth. Each one of us has felt the pull and yielded to the desire. Usually the act results in no child being created. However, often enough, a little on is the result and, taken as a whole, it is a good thing. The purpose of the Earth is to make Humans.
