Team Sarah!

I just joined up at Team Sarah(.org) - it's a really neat little website. Members can share their personal photos, upload videos, and even join in on discussions on the site's forum page. I was checking out some members' blogs and found this...

Here's the full story of Rebekah, who asked Governor Palin to sign her prosthesis. It is so lovely and heartfelt - and, honestly, I am deeply moved.

And lucky us, there's even video. It made me cry.

(thank you, Rebekah, for sharing this glimpse of the very real Sarah Palin.)

Perhaps this is insensitive to say, so if it is feel free to thwap me... but my first thought when I saw the top picture was "Why is Governor Palin drafting beer into that shoe?"

I thought the prosthetic there was a very ornate tap handle.

Is that the kind you have? It looks like a calf down variety. Very cool decoration on that one! And a fascinating 'ankle' joint.

Wow - that is so cool. I love Sarah.

Wow - Love the Team Sarah site, and Fred Thompson's wife is fantastic, too.

Interesting site! And yes, good on her for signing the pros!

Thanks so much for the link! I've bookmarked your page; it's great to "meet" a fellow amputee.

Sebastian, your comment made me laugh. Sarah's welcome to draft beer into my leg, or shoes, anytime.

Breda, you oughta try out the artsy style of leg sometime! All of mine before this one have been frustrating, unsatisfactory attempts at realism. Now if people notice (and I wear LOTS of knee-length skirts), they don't stare--they smile and move on or say it's awesome. I love it, and was crazy about it even before Sarah left her mark. ;-)

Bekah!! Oh my gosh! It's YOU! Thank you for leaving a comment.

I've seriously been thinking of getting an artsy leg next time because I am tired of trying to pretend my leg is real. I just haven't had enough guts to do it.

Thanks to you, that might soon change.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Really, go for it! I felt shy for a day or so. Less than a month later, and I've hemmed almost all my skirts up to knee-length and never wear long pants. Also removed the right leg of my leggings...ha.

My prosthetist made me a little foam thing to go around the ankle. So if I ever don't want to show it off, I can wear hose and have a "normal" shape. Don't see that happening very often, but it's nice to have the option. Also nice: not having to worry about messing up fake skin.
