I've had 3 pints of a fine micro-micro brewed IPA, so it's a bit of an understatement when I say I'm slightly drunk. It's been a mighty hard week for those of us who believe in smaller government, lower taxes and liberty so I think I deserve a little self-medicating.
All this beer has managed to disable the filter between my brain and my mouth (or my fingers, seeing how I'm typing this. Whatever. ) This filter allows us to function in society without blurting those offensive, hateful things that tend to clatter around in our heads. You, however, seem to lack this particular filter - with or without alcohol. Perhaps it's your gigantic ego, perhaps it's hubris, perhaps it's the fact that no one in your life has ever called you on it for fear of being called a racist - I don't know, and I don't care. But I'd like to take advantage of my own personal no-filter moment to tell you something...
You, sir, are an asshole.

*rowr*, Breda! Tell us what you really think! ;)
"Office Of The President Elect"!?
What a fatuous blowhard.
omg thats funny
"You, sir, are an asshole" Those are the same words I screamed for the past 8 years. Welcome to my world.
I don't remember W ever stooping to take pot-shots at elderly widows and former first ladies, Lydia. This sort of behavior doesn't quite jive with the bullshit of "hope & change" that Obama has been trying to brainwash us with, now, does it?...and you know what? It has only just begun. I can't wait for the facade to come crumbling down. Everyone who voted for him is in for a very rude awakening.
Well said, my dear.
Well, unfortunately the asshole called up Nancy and apologized. Nevertheless, he's still an asshole.
By the way, the sign should have said, "Office of the Sphincter-Elect."
so basically, I can spout whatever vile, despicable thing I like about a person, call them up the next day, apologize, and then be completely absolved?
In that case, I'd like the phone numbers for Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Joe Biden and Barack Obama because, boy do I ever have stuff to say.
Hear! Hear!

More beer for the feisty wee Irish woman!

Umm.... President-elect Obama (say that out loud and see if your skin doesn't crawl a bit) said *that*? I mean, being an egotistical gun-grabbing socialist is bad enough, but offering disrespect to one of the better First Ladies in a while is just callous. Not surprising, but callous. Jim.
w/v: foxist. Upon my life, thats what I got.
I would really like to know what you've got against sphincters.
Seriously, though, I'm pretty much past being bummed, and I'm choosing to view this whole thing as a real-time comedy/reality show. How hard will they have to twist themselves into knots to avoid admitting Obama made a mistake? Did Palin use too many ketchup packets at lunch today? Hey, Biden's eyes are now on the sides of his head. It's an interesting look, don't you think?
Ambling through the grocery store today, looking at all the faces, I felt a weird sort of elation. Like a weight being lifted, but something more. Soon they'll know. I don't have to keep trying to tell them. One day they will remember these days of calm and plenty, and they'll realize what they've done, and so will I.
So I got that goin' for me.
My only consolation is that our true hero, John M will be saved having to deal with the coming destruction. Gosh, he's been through enough already! He would have been a really great leader though. I love how Arnold mentioned that he spent more time serving his country in a POW camp than Obama has in Congress! Foolish American sheep. You let him buy the vote with the favorite liberal tool, the media. Now you get to sleep in the bed you made, and it won't be pretty. We are now going to make a giant, Anti-American leap toward Socialism/Communism. And it will fail, as it always has. But I will take care of my own. I'm also glad we will get Sarah back home... Whatever color you are, you are an ass. I hate your stupid smirk. And you'll pay for biting off more than you can chew.
"It's been a mighty hard week for those of us who believe in smaller government, lower taxes and liberty"
Like hell...it has been rough for those of us in that crowd since the date McCain clinched the nomination and we realized that no one would be representing us in this election.
On Nov 5th I immediately spent $700 on a pile of extra high capacity magazines.
Checking back today, the same list costs $1000.
...if you can find them...
I guess Elitist Snob was just too warm and fuzzy for you?
Freedom of speech, It's a wonderful thing. Use it before the Democrats try to restrict that as well.
Apparently beer nakes you clear. You've uttered the most concise and accurate assessment of our President-elect available. The kool-aid drinkers got what they wanted, unfortunately we all have to live with it for the next four years...
It's been a mighty hard week for those of us who believe in smaller government, lower taxes and liberty
Lord, Breda, it's been a mighty hard eight years for those of us who believe in all that. Eight years of Republican mismanagement and profligacy, and we've got the largest national debt ever, the highest taxes ever (especially if you include those Dubya shifted onto our kids and grandkids, and their grandkids), and liberty? Under an unelected "president" who suspended habeas corpus and has been running illegal warrantless wiretaps and a torture program?
and your answer to that would be voting for more, or perhaps worse?
Of all the BS that has spewed from The Messiah's mouth over this election cycle, this Nancy Reagan thing is the one that made Mister Liberty Girl turn puce and start punching things.
No man of honor is this Empty Suit.

(Breda, Jim Treacher is commenting on your blog excuse my while I have a fanboy moment.)
Mad Saint Jack, I've already had quite a few of those myself. =)
Under an unelected "president" who suspended habeas corpus and has been running illegal warrantless wiretaps and a torture program?
Sounds like somebody's been keeping up with their Kos!
There's no need for fannishness, guys, although I will accept cash.

We love ya out here in Texas. Are you sure your not from Texas?
As you may or may not already know the Democrats in Congress are holding hearings discussing the possibility of confiscating 401k's, IRA's and other private pension plans to be placed under a government agency to "equalize" retirement benefits for all.
Now my dog in this fight, may actually benefit from such a plan, except I don't like theft, even when I receive some of the swag.
Stupid, stupid offspring from the chronically unmarried have voted for this shit. Let's see how they like it, now.
Breda,
This dog-owning, gun-loving guy officially loves you. Please consider moving to West Virginia ASAP to get married.
PS--cats may be a problem, but dog is nothing if not resourceful.
PPS--Yeah, I've had a few drinks tonight. Is that wrong?
Breda--
I assume the rude awakening you are expecting those who voted for Obama to have is the same Rude Awakening that all of America has missed for the last 8 years.
Anyone foolish enough to think that the world is crumbling down NOW because of Obama is foolish enough to not realize that no matter who won last Tuesday very little difference would happen.
If you want to influence political change, move your financial investments. We've proven that big corporations get more attention from the government than any voters do.
We are fighting 2 wars, the economy is at a near-all-time low, and the public is pissed off. If you honestly want me to support someone who has fully supported the shithole we are in, say so. But don't leave that part out.
Oh--and the irony behind "liberty" in statements coming from right wing conservatives is great.
You don't want the 2nd Amendment messed with, but the 1st has been challenged by that wing of the party over and over.
You don't want to pay taxes, you do however want to say a woman isn't allowed to have an abortion.
You don't want big government--but you do want a government big enough to say that gay and lesbian couples cannot marry.
Explain to me how this is what Liberty means and I'll sign on the dotted light.
Breda,
I see that you are married so with apologies, I retract my offer of marriage.
Just as well. It probably wouldn't have worked out, what with the cats and all. But politically, you're still da' bomb...much brighter than these Obamatrons and Loosertarian faux conservatives that want to carp about Bush and McCain and justify them not working their asses off for no other reason than to keep Obama out of our White House.
Thanks jerks. I blame you guys more than the Dems.
I don't need drinks to call Urkel an asshole. And worse.
But hey, if you're pouring...:-D
WV: psymil. (dayum, does that sound ominous, or WHAT??)
Sounds like the only thing you're cheating, friend, is logic.
My filter remover is gin and tonic or rum and coke...course my husband says I don't have a filter, if it comes to my mind it goes out my mouth. Okay, so he's right...I just like the taste of the gin and tonic and the rum and coke...and I'm glad we live in a country where we can go filterless for a good portion of the time.

ha ha ha I feel the same way.... you nailed it!
The highest office I respect... but the man at that desk will have to earn my respect.
I think Obama wants to slow down the Internet and help dinosaur media at the same time. Both they and he will benefit: he'll work with print & broadcast and use their dependable bias to cover and kill stories, all while implementing stricter rules for bloggers. Essentially, a government intervention to stop the electronic spread of freedom of speech and the open exchange of ideas.
I believe Obama wants to be protected by the media in the same vein as JFK or FDR. He will censor and distrupt the speed of the Internet, which currently is his worst enemy. No stopping facts, links, proof and inconvenient truths for the greasy Obama ascension.
Also, good post. Really enjoyed reading your ideas.

Yeah insider Washington gossip jokes on national TV ought to be a crime.
Lets see if this guy has astrologers working at the oval office before we judge.
it's confidence/arrogance depending on your bias.

Boy, you've got me all figured out there, Albert.
You folks in America loved Blair whilst he destroyed our country, well the boots on the other foot now, welcome to socialism. Seriously though my heart goes out for you all, I never thought in a million years Americans were as stupid as us brits but there you go. Good luck to you all, I hope it all works out for you
> and we've got the largest national debt ever,
OK, folks, let's point out one thing -- The "official" national debt (i.e., not including all that entitlement crap which is not officially on the books) is not high when it is compared to the GNP, which, in the end, is the measure that matters. Even Obama is going to have a hard time tanking that GNP too fast. Expect it to go down but not by 75% or more in the next 3 years.
The entitlement crap, well, that's a different matter, and can be dealt with easily if we do it now -- the most likely way would be to start jacking up the age of "retirement" for SS (and, if needed, other government pensions somewhat) by a year every two or three years, until it makes it to some advanced age (say, 90) and then grandfather everyone on it, and everyone else is part of a better, properly backed scheme. Anyone who can never be a part of it gets automatically put on the alternate non-Ponzi scheme.
Of course, with Obama in office, there's nothing that is going to be done to resolve this problem ahead of time, because, just like Fannie Mae, "there's nothing wrong with Social Security". Reemember that in four years as a clear priority, and actually, START HARPING ON IT NOW. It'll catch the Dems with their pants down, because it's one of their faaaaavorite programs, and they are going to ALL resist like hell the actual doing of ANYTHING.
> You folks in America loved Blair whilst he destroyed our country
LOL, we didn't give a rat's ass about Blair's domestic policy. Why would we? His foreign policy was sensible, though.
The same can't be said for Obama. There's not a policy to be found he won't be on the wrong side of.
