Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night...

Oh, wait...I'm not a mailman.

It could be the middle of nuclear winter, Godzilla could be stomping his way down main street, everyone could have the bubonic plague, the seas could boil and the zombie apocalypse could break out but still, as long as it was the weekend and the administration staff didn't have to show up for work, the library would be open.

And so here I sit, watching the snow pile up outside and wishing I was somewhere else. Somewhere my toes would be warm and I wouldn't have to teach people how to press CTRL+ALT+DEL for the millionth time. That would be nice.

UPDATE! Snow day! We were sent home early - whoohoo!

If it makes you feel any better, I bought an antique .22 autoloader last night, and this afternoon I may walk out into the woods, in the snow, and 'plink' with for a while. :->

Oh, wait. That would make ME feel better. Hmmm.... not sure what I can say to improve your day then.

(taunt taunt)

I have green felt-like moss and fallen leaves across my backyard, that I should attack, and I should set the mole traps out, and I should win the Lotto and go spend my money wildly and stimulate the economy -- but I choose to sit and ponder the almost empty library, where those seeking sanity or insanity may quietly roam. I have two days to miss the procrastination pile, I have two days to find or create a better Earl, and I don't... think so. Eastwood around noon, shooting tomorrow, rain in the forcast and somewhere there are people seeking, perhaps Don Quixote was right - read until it all becomes an adventure then go live it!

Breda, these guys aren't helping. Let me try.

New England is like that closing scene in "Austin Powers", where Dr. Evil is in the spaceship, covered with frost, and says:

"It's frickin' cold."

I'm thinkin' it would be a bad idea for you to bring a chain saw to work. On the other hand, the resulting news coverage headlines would be intriguing.

Cheer up! Winter Solstice has come and gone!

CTRL+ALT+WHATNOW?? :0P

I can think of far worse places to be, but then I haven't been *forced* to be in a library since I was a 'library assistant' in the sixth grade. :0)

I'm home today with my daughter, who just whooped me twice in a row at Candy Land. Those darn pink cards get me every time.

A library is never a bad place to be. Probably better with warm toes though. Imagine feeling that way at the deserted service counter of a ________________. fill in the blank with a place where if you found yourself there it would be for no longer than it took to shift away. Call your Mike to bring some warm socks and sympathy. Tell him it will earn him TWO points. Husbands understand that kind of math.

I thought you brought your bunny slippers :-)

As for C+A+D, just set up and recorder cued to the spiel and press the on button!

At least you spend your work day in a library, and not a zillion empty miles away from any place rational!

Too bad you can't reload ammo at the library. Just the thing for whiling away the hours on a dreary day.

Before I retired, I was Tech. support for a large local school district. I know the feeling of being the only one there, and the only one likely to be there. I don't think they ever called a snow day for us.
