We had one--Reagan. We also had G.W. Bush for a while. But the problem is, we elect tough men when we feel threatened and once they end the threat, the liberals among us begin to resent them because they are men and the liberals are not, and so they get voted out and replaced with milquetoastes like Clinton and Obama.

Looking at the rest of Putin's record, I'd say that condition is squarely in the "necessary but not sufficient" camp.
Stalin had some pretty serious bad-arseitude to if I recall correctly.
I like your example though. Be nice to see some more cut from such stronger cloth.
And I imagine we will.There's a whole generation of retired 'WoT' vets filling up civilian life already.

I want to see Putin-Spetznaz leaping upside-down through the air throwing an axe. Otherwise he's just hangin' out with the Hells Angels to bolster his street cred among the leather-crowd.

I think the point is that Obama would never be seen with a gun, let alone allow himself to be photographed with one.
Putin, while seemingly untrained, has no problem with guns.
Let us not forget that V. Putin not only volunteered for the Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti, but spent from 1975 to 1991 in.
One seriously doubts that you can have a 16-year career with the KGB and not receive some kind of firearms training.
There should be an ultimate celebrity death-match showdown between Putin and Obama, to be shown world-wide on pay per view - even split between Russia and the USA on the PPV proceeds. Hopefully, we'll put both our gubmints in the black in the right way, for a change, and there'll be one less tool on the international political scene. Call it a win/win/win.

Because when we have one who shoots and otherwise indicates 'badass when needed', the lefties wet their pants and scream NAZI!!! And Bush & Co. effed-up bad enough on some things a lot of others decided "Let's give the professor a try."
And this is what we got. Even his fencing stance sucks, dammit!
