nice try

Drew Carey just loves Cleveland despite not actually having lived here since, oh...about the mid '80s.

Nonetheless, Drew (who seems like a super guy, by the way) and Reason TV still want to save us from our misery by suggesting some radical newfangled libertarian ideas - less government! lower taxes! - to make Cleveland a great city. You know...like Houston.

Sigh.

I'm sorry. Are you saying that you think more government and higher taxes will make Cleveland a better place?

He seems pretty clear. I heard him indicate the welfare state mentality is what has made the Rust Belt what it is. He contrasts "Sun Belt" cities, but doesn't mention Houston which is sort of a wart on the butt of TX.

I'm certainly in agreement when he says he hates LA!

HEY! Houston is not a wart of the butt of Texas! Houston, somewhat like Dallas, is a cancer trying to spread "Rust Belt Ideals" throughout the state. Hence why Bill "Great 'White' Hope" White is running for governor.

When the bill comes due for our sports stadiums and toy trolleys, Houston will be just like any hollowed out liberal northern city and I will be somewhere else.

'Cause there's nothing like regulations and taxes and unions to spur economic redevelopment!

Lower taxes and less government would be terrific - but Cleveland is so controlled by corrupt Democrats it just will never happen. And trust me...the people who need to hear these ideas sure aren't watching reason.tv.

Heh.

And that's why I have a whole category on my blog labeled "spitting in the wind"... ;)

Eh, his heart's in the right place.

And it IS true that people are flocking to the SunBelt to do business.
