Along with some bone spurs from a decade old injury, a couple of spinal misalignments, and a thoroughly fascinating skeleton (I love X-rays!), I have whiplash.
See how the vertebrae in my neck are stacked so neatly straight up and down?
Yeah, well...they're supposed to be curved.

Ouchie...
And of course, suing the guy would get you all of nowhere, am I right?
ouch ... take it easy ...
BTDT, and you have all of my sympathy, whiplash sucks!
If they offer you traction treatment, TAKE IT. It feels great on a fubared neck, and you pick up a couple inches of altitude ;)
It could be worse, but that probably isn't much comfort! The thought of something being messed up in my neck would have I quite sleepless, I think.

Wow. That's gonna seriously cut into your head-banging and mosh pit time. *Grin*
On a serious note, ouch and hope you feel better real soon.
Ouch... Get some rest and get well!
Yeah, whiplash sucks. I remember the car wreck I was in. I had a broken rib, lacerated liver, severe whiplash. By everyone's account, we (me, my best friend and his wife) should have been dead. You should see the picture of the car. I actually have a picture of it. I'll email it to you.
I was in pain and they prescribed muslce relaxers for me, but I couldn't stand them so I stopped taking them after 2 days. I lived with the whiplash for over 6 months.
I hope you don't have to suffer what I went through.
BTW, nice earrings :)
You might try a chiropractor -- not the hippy-dippy "cures whatever ails ya" kind, but the "puts the bones back in alignment and that's that" kind. My sister had a similar injury in high school (the curve in her upper back got flattened, among other things) and a couple visits to the chiropractor did wonders for her. She couldn't even walk beforehand because her back was spasmed trying to pull the curve back into place.
Joanna and everyone -
I've been going to the chiropractor, hooray! He's great and is working on putting all my pieces parts back in the right place.(which, apparently, involves a lot of cracking)
Breda - y'all know we care'n'worry about you. :)
Glad to hear you've got a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Hope you feel all better soon.
get well soon
Whoa! Get better soon Breda. Hope the chiropractor fixes you up.
Get better soon! Range time as soon as you can stand it - until then I prescribe many kitteh cuddles. Dat oughta do it!
Chiro's ROCK.... wish I could get to my good chiro back home more often...
lookin at your x-ray, WOW, those are some good solid vertebrae and discs... you're a lucky woman
So sorry to hear that, honey, but so so glad you got checked out!
. . . and yeah, the X-ray's pretty damn cool :)
BTW, if you can find a DO (Doc of Osteopathy) in your area, they are much better than an MD. Like a chiropractor+medical doctor. They make much better GP's than an MD does. They tend not to spend your visit looking at your chart, but looking at you. MUCH more observant. Their focus is more on the body, instead of prescribing medicines.
Also very good are Physiatrists. They are sports medicine specialists. You are more apt to find them in areas that have professional sports teams, or schools with serious sports focus. Somewhat new specialty, about twenty years old, perhaps. Their focus is to get you as functional as possible, as quickly as possible. Heavy emphasis on physical therapy, with surgical intervention as a last resort. They seem to be on the cutting edge of innovative surgical procedures, and therapies.
Both get a BIG thumbs up from me!
That (mis)alignment looks very uncomfortable, to say the least. Hope it realigns post haste.
On the other hand: That's some serious ear jewelry - several studs AND a hoop (aaarrgh, matie!)!
I remember when I got rear-ended in the Vega. (yah, I know) and my neck felt a bit sore. I thought I was being prudent, and put off signing final insurance settlement as long as I could, in case something showed up later. Time expiring and I feeling fine, I signed. Shortly later started getting minor neck problems which are with me to this day.

The best money that I spend every month is probably the $5 per payment for Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage. I professionally find too many drivers every month who don't carry insurance, and many (like your encounter) will drive off when they strike another vehicle because of it.
My advice is not to let the pain management docs bully you, and be wary of pain meds.
