peg leg

Ahoy, you scurvy two-legged landlubbers.

(I totally needed one of these last Halloween - & yes, the leg's the real deal.)

Not remotely related, but a review of the search terms which lead suck.. readers to my blog has taught I that there is a city in Holland named after you.

Roommate from college had a below the knee amputation and now works for a prosthetics company. I have been trying to convince her of that costume for years to no avail.

In Robert Louis Stevenson's immortal Treasure Island, one-legged sea cook/pirate Long John Silver didn't even have a peg leg, just went about with one leg, the other trouser leg pinned up or sewn short; to walk, he used a single wooden crutch. On shipboard, he was assisted by various ropes he had strung about; these were referred to as Long John's Earrings by the rest of the crew. Still, I can't imagine that it would be easy to get about in such a manner.

As I assume Mike doesn't mind. I have seen the photos of you on the range, prone, shooting 30cal, HAWT!.

Seriously if I had your condition I'd NEED to have a wooden peg for "Dress Up" Occasions. Just too damn many times that would be cool!

If the ankles don't cut me some slack, I'm gonna need one or two of those, as I'll have done the job myself.

I had a classmate in college with no legs below the knee.

He helped me to my feet after I regulated a couple of hard heads half my age. He had a unbelievable balance. In all senses of the word.

I feel that about Breda too!
Very well balanced!

Glad to see more people 'coming out' so to speak about wearing prosthetics... They have been hidden for too long, for any number of reasons...
