Let the PSH begin

SB 239, which would allow Ohio's many CCWers to carry in establishments that serve alcohol, passed in the state Senate yesterday.

I've been much amused today by the near-hysterical reader commentary in the many news stories I've read on the issue. My favorite was this:
"I will just stop going to places where they allow firearms because I am not for the concealed carry!"
In that case, I'd suggest they make a point not to stand behind me in the checkout line at the grocery store.

Or Target.

Or Dunkin' Donuts.

Or PetSmart.

Or...

Yeah, because it's impossible to combine booze & boomsticks on my own.

If it's illegal then it's impossible to do, right Robb?

So what she's saying is her world ends right about here?

Must be kinda weird to have EVERYTHING delivered and never go outside...

If it were impossible, it wouldn't have to be illegal.

Sigh... gotta love the LWLoonies... She'd probably have a hissy fit if she REALLY knew how many people around her carried. :-)

Tennessee's senate just overrode the governor's veto on our "guns in bars bill. Several of my coworkers are livid. The law still allows for business owners to opt out by posting proper signage, so our dining experiences will be segregated, I guess.

OK...lemme get this straight...

The hysterical *I'm not for Concealed Carry* person doesn't want to be around concealed weapons, and she feels perfectly safe walking down the street in the midst of concealed weapons, and she's fine because she can't see them?

I'm now convinced that evolution has ceased, and we have begun devolving.

That's because us Tennessee diners are so much more prone to violence than patrons in 34 other states...

Tam got so fed up with us she went to Indiana where it's perfectly legal to pack and drink.

A similar bill was signed into law here in Virginia this year and will take effect July 1st. Naturally, the anti-gun folks are acting like we will have a rash of drunken shootouts at restaurants. The rest of us are expecting no such excitement.

Q: Are we not men?
A: We are DEVO!

like tsimer said, we're in the process of our second veto override in two years here in TN. Granted, nothing happened last year while we were allowed to carry in restaurants that served.....

I suppose she wouldn't be thrilled with my proposed mandatory Open Carry bill ...

You can get a permit to not open carry, provided you prove to the state you have religious objections, or you are too mentally incompetent to carry, or are a felon. You would also be required to pay an additional 10% sales tax during face to face purchases, to compensate the state for protecting your ass.

I bleeve the only problem we've had in Tennessee concerning firearms in bars was when an off-duty deppity shot someone. And this was before the legislature got involved.
