this wasn't me...

...honest.*

But chances are good that the woman, at one time, might have worked in a public library.

*the article about me would read, "Six cats, a cranky turtle, a few guns, but holy crap, you should have seen the knife collection on her nightstand."

So did they just take the guns because they were there, or was there some other reason?

The lady has six guns and they call that hoarding? Geeze, I've got at least that many under the guest bed because they won't fit in the safe. Not to mention the nightstand, the car, the truck...

55 cats, though, yes. Definite cat hoarder.

That sounds like too many cats and not enough guns.

Cat hoarder sure, but guns? That's merely the start of a good collection.

I often wonder what they'd say about me? There are many full ammo cans around here, not to mention the machete and other stabby things.

Hil - I have that same problem. I need to buy another safe.

You can never have to many guns or knives but you can have to many cats!

I only see an issue if she didn't have her CCC. Concealed Cat Carry license.

Note that the crazy cat lady on the Simpsons always had open carry - she probably was denied her CCC because she had guns in her home.

Not to mention the high-capacity Dice!

NO Civilian needs a die with more than 6 sides!!!!

Six? We just adopted another kitten abandoned on our road. That makes 4 (okay, 4 inside, one outside) for the two of us. I don't feel so bad.
At least we do still have more firearms than cats.

why is Myra cranky? Not enough worms & blueberries?

She always gets cranky this time of year - it causes the weather to get colder and the nights to get longer.

We spend the next 5 months or so trying to cheer her up, and when she finally comes round, the sun returns to the sky and the days grow warmer.

It's the darndest thing.

Best to keep her happy then once it gets sunny & warm, for everyone's sake :)

The second comment on the article was pretty awesome (even if s/he did mix up "throw" and "through")so I'm copying it here:

" So six guns (a whole 6) is "hoarding" now?

Cowboy action shooting calls for a minimum of 4 guns. (2 six guns, 1 rifle and one shotgun.)

Through bulls-eye shooting in the mix and you get at least 2 more. Maybe 3 more.

This "hoarding" headline is the product of someone who knows nothing of firearms or the shooting sports, and whose personal bias against guns and gun-owners keeps them from asking a simple question.

I would hate to see the headline if they actually encountered a collector of antique firearms.

Media bias? What media bias? "

Same with ammo. I have about 5000-6000 rounds right now. I remember a _shocking_ news story about a gun lunatic having, oh my gosh, over a thousand "bullets" at his home. The guy must have been prepared to shoot over a thousand people - the maniac!

I transitioned from being gun unaware to gun aware pretty easily. "Getting a clue" is easy - more of the media should make the effort.

I reckon after perhaps four cats you're starting to look a little suspicious. (Don't have more cats than you would kids, maybe?)

Cat hoarding? She didn't have too many cats. She had too few people. She needed a few roommates.

Since cats can be used as a weapon, could this just be considered a high capacity magazine?

Remember, dogs are domesticated. Cats are tamed. If you owned a hungry cat the size of a mastiff, it would eat you.
