The NRA has created a beautiful new (flash-free!) website for their National Firearms Museum. Each gallery is full of super zoom-able photos for your viewing pleasure.

I was lucky enough to have been sent some exclusive photos (thanks, Lars!) of a gorgeous side-by-side Ferraglio 12-gauge engraved by Bregoli. They call it "the Picasso shotgun." I was absolutely delighted, since Pablo is probably one of my favorite artists.

The images are quite large, but I thought I'd leave them that way so that you can click to see more detail. (I'm particularly enamored with the faceted cubist-inspired accents.) Enjoy.

Something to really love the NRA for, locking up all those beautiful firearms from the public, but for the Public view! That is a beautiful shotgun, really classy, and I would just love to shoot dove with it. And I am not a shotgunner... but I can dream.

There is something about the feel of a well built side by side that is unequaled by any other action. My Winchester 21, 20 gauge, just feels like a natural third arm, its that comfortable.

Guernica, of course.

And the trigger guard is from Les Demoiselles d'Avignon.

Y'know, I don't even much like engraved guns for the most part, but that is pretty cool.

I understand the need for watermarks in the images, and I can, kind of, accept that they need to be where they can't be easily cropped out.

But that engraving would be so much easier to see and appreciate if that watermark wasn't right in the middle of it. :(

Should have finished the stuff from Pablo's Blue Period in, you know: blue. ;)

The right side is Peace, 1952.

Clever.
