Why, yes, that is a 12-pound turkey floating in brine in my vegetable bin or, as Mike called it, "the turkey aquarium." I like to refer to it as the first stage of what will forever be known as The Best Turkey I Ever Ate.
After a day of bathing in an apple juice (and garlic and sage and peppercorn and...) brine, I have stuffed it with onions, apples and rosemary and massaged it with butter. It is now being slowly smoked over applewood.
You all may now drool and be very, very jealous.
p.s. (isn't the vegetable bin idea terrific? Found at notmartha, the home of the bacon bowl.)

Not fair! making my mouth water before coffee, dammit!
Pffft! I'm already into cooking my THIRD bird.
Sorry, I never view those bins as being clean enough for that sort of stuff. My turkey has been slowcooking in a mixture of apple cider and cranberry sauce since 1AM.
it was in a roasting bag.
YUM! Save me some.
Danielle and I would like to come to your house for Thanksgiving.
Oh and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
That is a great idea! Unfortunately, the Blue Eyed Devil would have too much fun playing in it.
We went the brining bag route here. Into the oven in about an hour. Traditional accompaniments. How do you get the bird out of the aquarium and then remove the sloshing bath from the frig without swamping the kitchen floor?
Looks awesome!
Have a great thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Breda! And yes that looks delicious!
I'm drooling and it's still a few hours till everyone gets here to eat.
Happy Thanksgiving Breda & Mike!
Happy Thansgiving, Breda. That sure sounds good; Perhaps I'll try it sometime.

Oooh Good idea. My Mom right now is planning her next turkey with that method.
Also Mom Oo'd and Ahh'd at your cooked bird picture.
I just like anything turkey, so my praise don't mean much.

Happy Thanksgiving!
