1st funshow!

This past Saturday, Mom went to her first gun show. She did all the requisite activities - joined the NRA and got a free hat, peered in cases full of WWII memorabilia, handled lots of (pink and non) guns while keeping her finger off the trigger, admired the unique and antique, wandered off with me while Mike got lost in the earthtone and denim crowd, waited patiently while I looked at knives, bought something from the military surplus booth, picked up some literature on CCW classes...you know, the usual.

It was a decent gun show and we had a good time, with one exception: STILL NO JERKY. Sure, you can buy giant smurf blue ropes of sour licorice or even cranberry apricot trail mix, but no spicy dessicated meat. What is wrong with Ohio that there is never any jerky at our gunshows?

If there wasn't jerky, then it wasn't a real gun show.

Went to the gun show down here in Orlando Florida a couple weeks ago and in the place where the Jerkey guy has been for every gun show I've been to down here for years was a big giant empty place. They didn't even bother to fill it with something else!

Where has all the jerkey gone?
Long time passing!
Where has all the jerkey gone?
Long time ago.
Where has all the jerkey gone?
Gun show is not as fun.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Sorry, was channeling my inner hippie.

Alan nailed it off the bat.

Even MA gun shows have jerky...

Gun show FAIL.

(Glad you and mom had a good time though!)

Huh? Was this a Dick Walters show? There's usually jerky at those.

You and your mom could set up a jerky booth and make a fortune - no competition!

Of course, that would require time and effort along with money. Ugh. Starting to sound like work. Never mind. :)

What Jay said :) If the PETA-lovin' tree-huggin' earthycrunchy hippies in MA manage to have gun show jerky, surely Ohio should be able to provide!!

really really good jerky for sale has to be somewhat suspect.

Think about it, take 10# of prime meat (at least $40 right there). Add spices and nitrates that are not free. Dehydrate your 10# down to about one pound of peptone goodness. Subdivide and sell at profit, minding the amount of free samples given out, etc.

Yet gunshow jerky is by far the best I've ever bought. The guys doing this must be doing this as labor of love, or maybe they're slipping doe into the meat sticks, or maybe they are just really bad at math.

I bet if you went to a gun show in MICHIGAN there'd be jerky!

(Sometimes I just can't help myself...)

We have jerky at every show I have been to in the Columbus area, it is one of my son's favorite reasons to go.
