reshelved

Sometimes when I work late in the library, I hear a faint shuffling sound coming from the stacks. Is there someone lurking, did someone fall asleep in a study carrel? I do a quick walk-through and check again. Nope. No one's there.

I shrug to myself, turn off the lights and go home.

This would explain why I can never find anything in the 500s.

(thanks to everyone who sent this!)

Explanation in the 130s.

Working as a page in college, I had to work one closing shift a week. This included a final walk-through of the stacks, looking down each row, usually after the lights had gone down for the evening.

I hated doing the psychology section and the bound magazines. They just plain gave me the willies. No, it wasn't rational, but the willies seldom are.

That was pure concentrated awesome!

That said, given your introduction I was sure we were about to see the opening sequence from Ghostbusters;)

I'm sure that one has never come up before.

Tamacun! Those two sure can play.
I gave my Dad a video of them playing this, and Diablo Rojo, and my uncle saw it and downloaded every video and bought all the tunes on the iTunes account he got for his 72nd Birthday.

Someone must be filming that in the 500s for you then (~_^) I'll stop then.

You probably have a link to the stacks in the Unseen University -- it's just the librarian. Plays a mean goalie, too.

That was my second thought, too (the first was the scene from Ghostbusters, just like SpeakerTweaker).

Just be careful when you go into L-space, I hear it can be dangerous.

Thank you for reaffirming my decision early in life to enter libraries as little as possible. They've always creeped me out.

When I worked the university library all those years ago I would always keep an eye out for The Girl With The Red Backpack when I made the closing walkthrough. According to campus legend, she haunted the fourth floor. I never saw her, though.
