rhapsodic

Once upon a time, men would travel to far off lands in search of lapis lazuli. They'd carry the rocks back home and then grind them again and again, hoping for the tiniest amount of pure, clear pigment. Worth a king's ransom, it was reserved for painting only the most precious subjects and decorated only the most expensive goods.

(same color, different light, same, um...less than delicately girly hands.)

But now, thanks to the wonders of the modern age and for just a little more than the spare change at the bottom of my purse - that blue can be mine.

For more on pigments (from a woman as obsessed with color as I am) check out Color: A Natural History of the Palette. Great book.

Snort. And here I was thinking about how much thinner and more feminine your hands look compared to mine. (Erik & I wear the same size ring.) Love the color, by the way.

Does your eye shadow match?

Y'know, that would be a cool color for a mohawk.

To the medically minded, that colour looks like you are either 1. suffering from severe asphyxia or 2. gangrene. Most of the non-red nail varnishes suffer from the same association.

Here's to nail colors not found in (healthy) nature! I'm doing mine over tonight. That book looks lovely, actually.

Yes, a very good book. One copy has made the circle of friends here. Held together with packing tape. All the artistic types have devoured the contents.
