A vintage chick...

(...with a gun!)

In 1922, this woman claimed she was exempt from concealed carry laws because she carried a little pistol strapped to her knee, well below the daring new hemlines of the era.

What is that, a Baby Browning or Colt?
Very interesting holster too, what with the trigger cutout. Wouldn't be allowed in IPSC or duty carry, eh?

I have that EXACT same gun. Colt Vest Pocket 1908 circa 1917 (at least from what I can tell from the grip pattern....Peter Lorre pulls a later model 1908 from his tuxedo on Bogey in "The Maltese Falcon"

Sam has an almost identical model as mine:

I don't think I'd ever carry mine. .25 ACP is just too little gun to be worth it. I'd rather have my Ka-Bar TDI at that point. Though dispite being almost as old as the woman in the picture, my colt shoots as well as the day it was made!

Arrrr

SEE what happens when you let the grrrrls play, too?!?

Hmph!

I was sitting here thinking that the holster for that little VP Colt was mighty large for such a bitty gun, and that the trigger cutout was foolish, and was wondering if it would be sexist to comment on the gams, and then wondered if it would be insensitive... when all of a sudden some chicks bring in the footgear into the issue, something I certainly wouldn't have ever considered.

Too girly for me.

*Channeling my ex's grandmother* "Oh, honey, don't you know that the backs of her knees are the ugliest part of a woman's body? That skirt is too short!" */Channeling my ex's grandmother*

Oh, and you know who designed that pistol? John Moses Browning, that's who.

Yeah, and I guess you know you're some kinda firearms enthusiast when you take one look and say, "they sure used the wrong holster for that lil' Colt's .25. [zooms in on image, sees stitching line] And it's a vintage Audley Safety Holster, too."

You can see the little silver spring retainer through the trigger guard. This and the stitches are the giveaway that it's the 1914 Model Audley. This one is clearly for an auto pistol of some kind, probably a 1903 or 1908 Colt's Hammerless.

Better images of this type holster may be seen at:

Oh, and, nice shoes, too.

Yeah jpg, I immediately saw it was wrong too, but I didn't know what it was........

Looks to me a 1911 on the hip would be more appropriate.

Oh the backs of those knees, a misplaced errogenous zone.......
