gungirl grins.

This past weekend, a group of gunbloggers in New Hampshire and Massachusetts got together to show off their toys. It looks like everyone had a lot of fun, especially Lissa, a brand new shooter.

She started out shooting .22s and quickly worked her way up to a Madsen 9mm submachine gun. I've watched that video a couple of times and my reaction is a mixture of, "Ooooh! So much shooty! Cool!", "Hooray for Lissa!" and "Oh my gosh, I am so jealous!" - but each time, I get a little choked up. What a wonderful time and place to be a woman.

I'm smiling with you, Lissa...and welcome.

Well, you Mid-Western folks set the blog meet level kinda high. . . but I have to say JayG set up a great meet and I think we did OK keeping up with you folk = )

It was an added bonus that we got a new person into shooting. . . and from MA too. . . . we need more shooters in MA. . . .

I absolutely love the fact that they were shooting from New Hampshire INTO Massachusetts.

I wonder if Lissa will catch the gunnie bug now?

Holy [bleep], BREDA MADE A POST ABOUT ME. Insert SQUEEING sound, indeed!!!! JayG introduced me to your blog a while back (the first Michelle Obama/pie post, which STILL makes me laugh) and I've been a faithful reader ever since. What an honor :)

I'll have more to say once someone finds my right shoulder, packs it in ice, and brings it to the doctor's for re-attachment...

Lissa got a Breda-lanche! ;-)

Jay did an *outstanding* job getting this set up.

I'll have the video of her and the AR-15 up later on. In case you weren't feeling jealous enough.

Madsens irritate me. I've shot one a few times, but next to an MP5, they're inelegant. They have a silly forward grip safety that makes a little smg that might otherwise be able to be fired one-handed into a two-handed only proposition. Silly. Also, their clam-shell design makes you feel like it came in a bubble pack from Wal-Mart with the words "Real Metal!" printed on the cardboard.

But it will efficiently turn money into noise. :)

Seeing the women getting into the shooting sports is good, and it is welcome. When are you going to shoot a pistol match? If you're safe with your gun-handling, then you're ready. Go hit a plate match.
