breakfast of champions

If you've been reading this site for even a small amount of time, you know that I am not shy about my passion for bacon and that I'm deadly serious about my pie...

So it's only natural to me that these two delectable things should come together in a glorious fusion of savory and sweet. And so...

...bacon apple pie.
Oh, yes.
Yes, really.

Pork and fruit - makes perfect sense, doesn't it? But dare I make it? As if pig candy wasn't enough, this ambrosia might ruin me for all other food forever.

Crazy! I've never even considered weaving bacon before. Bacon crafts! Wooo!

The pie looks good too :)

Go for it!
Consider it a reward for the excellent work you did on The Show last night.

Where's the new banner?! I need a charismatic leader to guide and name the coming revolution. Should we call it the Thunderboltolution? No. Doesn't sound right. The Turonistanilution? No... I'm stumped on what to call it.

There is no food that cannot be improved with bacon. Seriously. I a Food Network junkie and I've seen some weird stuff made with bacon. On Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, there was one guy who invented bacon and egg breakfast ice cream. I would definitely give that a try.

You should definitely make it. And if you don't like it, you could always send it off to Obama. After all, what could be more American than apple pie? As for the bacon: if he is still a Muslim, he won't eat it, but you can always dress it up with lipstick. Haha!

It may be the perfect food.

I was thinking steak and guinness pie for tonight, now I'm thinking Cheshire Pork Pie with apples and bacon tucked in.

I'll take a slice, please.

It's interesting how there is this tie-in between people who like guns and hunting and people who like good cooking.

Oh, that does look nom. :)

A neat dish I saw at a living history museum once upon a time was sausage, apples, onions, raisins, and cheddar... oh my gosh.
Fruit and pig. Awesome combination.

This sounds abso-f#@%^&g-lutely delicious. I must submit this to the Family Chef.
With bacon and whiskey added to good ol' American apple pie, it makes such a nice political statement, too
Mmmmmm. Tasty, tasty statement.
I can't wait.

I've added this to the list of recipes I'm stealing from Brigid's blog and will probably make it this weekend.

Would serving it during Sunday football be TOO American?

West - what about bacon cups or maybe a bacon mat?

tanksoldier - it would be a perfect football night treat! And too American? NO SUCH THING! =)
