Yet another worrisome slip of the tongue from Barack Obama. A little more subtle than the famous "spread the wealth" moment but still very revealing. Combine this quote along and his anti-gun voting record with the 2004 NPR interview where Obama said, "I continue to support a ban on concealed carry laws" and there you have it..."If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,’’ Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.
So he tried again. “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress,’’ he said.
If he had the votes and the support in Congress, Obama would begin the process of disarming law-abiding American citizens.
But tricksy as he is with language, I'm sure that when the time comes and Barack Obama has gotten his votes in Congress and we the people no longer have the right to bear arms, he will quote himself. He'll say, "I explicitly said that 'if you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it.' " and then he'll send out his civilian national security force to do it for him instead...

Not to mention, after the election, he most likely will have the votes in Congress.
thanks, Rusty - I feel better now. ACK.
I had a whole day yesterday to forget the election, and now I read this, sigh. Okay, after church, back out to the range for my practice and peace of mind. He didn't get my vote.
good idea, Earl. I think I'll go to the range today too.
I wonder if there'll be some subtle screening for loyalty to the One in this "security farce" of his. You know, so that when it comes time for his re-election, he has a personal army loyal only to him and equipped and funded as well as the US military.
Yeah, range therapy sounds good. I have a new acquisition to test drive, anyway.
I just had a rather animated* discussion with my Life long Hunter/Gun Nut nephew and his wife. They are voting for Obama because of the Changiness.
We both agreed that you can't trust anything that comes out of a politicians mouth at election time, but after asking him about the O's stance on guns, he started immediately with "Well, but Obama says"....
Total disconnect.
I asked them about the "Employee Free Choice Act", and they said it didn't concern them - they aren't in a union after all.
It went downhill from there. /sigh
*rather TOO animated. I came off sounding like a loon after trying to get them to see the disconnect in their own words. I wound up hurting my cause rather than helping, and I HATE that.
heh Word Verification = "Derate" should be "Irate"
Just to make you feel ever worse: the UN is warming up their Arms Trade Treaty.

I think IMAO has the right word for the new security force: schutzstaffel.

It will be a cold day in hell before they take my guns...
I thought the civilian national security forces were the CIA, FBI, BATFE, and Federal Marshals. Maybe it's just me being silly, but do we REALLY need another multi-billion-dollar government bureaucracy to trample our rights?
Also,I've wondered this before, and I'll pose the question again here:
When Obama creates this civilian goon squad, will they become gun nuts themselves (and thus evil to the hope-and-change lefties), or will they become conflicted, tortured souls who loathe the very tools of their profession?
It all depends on how Sen. Obama defines "gun" and so many other words. Squirt guns might be allowed in our homes particularly if not "menacing". "Rights" may still "exist" but be restricted so much that they are nothing more than meaningless words on a scrap of old parchment in the National Archives.
smith - funny you should mention that.
Unconfirmed third-hand story, take it for what it's worth. Original source connected with Anchorage PD.
One of the UK's armed response guys came to some LEO type symposium here in AK. After the official business, he was invited along to the local firing range to play with the local constabulary.
He had a grand ol' time, apparently. Had his picture snapped.. which made it into the newspaper's website as "British cop has weapons training."
Once he arrived home, he was escorted off the plane by officers and Nastiness Ensued.
The gist of it was that in order to pass the psych evals to carry a firearm on one of those teams, you apparently had to be a raging hoplophobe.
"England ma'am.... where Great Britain used to be."
Maybe you would like to hear the whole thing

Quote"
He says he wants to expand AmeriCorp from 75,000 to 250,000 and using Americorp for teaching, infrastructure, and health care purposes. Which I don't like that much, because government health care is bad. Anyway, he then says that he wants to expand diplomacy through consulates and the Peace Corp. Then the quote from the first section, at about 16:45."
Well, no one said gun shops have to sell guns to Obama's goon squad. And no one said gun manufacturers have to sign a contract to supply Obama's goon squad with guns. Therefore, if they can't get their guns legally, that means they'll be getting them ILLEGALLY, or doing business with foreign countries, in which case, would violate the terms of the UN's "Small Arms and Light Weapons" bullshitty nonsense.
As president, I will repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Biden and I also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. We support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. We also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
How are those "commonsense" gun laws working out in Chicago? Not everyone is stupid enough to fall for your rhetoric, Barry. Nice try, though.
