good for a laugh.

Meet Regina Brett, one of Cleveland's better known columnists and a shining example of why newspapers are circling the drain. She insists she's a moderate on guns and then declares there needs to be restrictions on them. She also has interesting thoughts on self defense...
"...don't own [a gun] because you fear your neighbor will come steal your lawnmower."
Uh. My lawnmower?

How do these muddle headed fools get a paying job as a columnist?

There ya have it. God will protect you. I guess god has a phobia about meddling in "gun-free zones."

Great, more magical thinking. Don't take care of your self, trust in a "higher power". I'm always surprised that the big government liberals don't embrace religion more. Seems like a perfect fit.

Just what we need.

Guns: there is no other subject so heavily saturated with opinions coming from those with a near total lack of practical experience.

It's astounding. Where else does this happen? How come I never read an op-ed about the martial arts by someone who is completely ignorant? Or auto repair? Or string theory? Why is it that anyone who sees yellow police tape on the evening news is qualified to make recommendations on self-defense, hunting or collecting?

Kaveman - I'll bet God has a really good track record of putting down active shooters....

I'd rather stay in reality, where I can choose methods of survival that show tangible results.

Ms. Britt is free to choose God as her savior, but i'll be damned if she's going to bind me to that same choice.

We need some restrictions on both. Libel and privacy laws protect us from the media. Background checks protect us from the wrong folks buying legal guns.Libel is AFTER the fact, not a prior restriction.

How'd the privacy laws work out for Joe the Plumber?

She's one of the many reasons to give up the PD subscription.

Now, let's have a look at a reason TO carry a gun. His name is Todd Torok. Search for his name at the link Breda provided. The may 8th story provides 2 VERY good reasons, as do his 36 prior arrests.

WV= cofin, where Todd Torok should be today.

Only if my lawnmower has a machine gun mounted to it.

The link below should be required reading for not only Regina Brett but every columnist and so-called reporter in the MSM today. On second thought, it should be required reading for anyone with aspirations of completing grammar school.

If I've got my gun, my neighbor is welcome to use my lawnmower... just as long as he never leaves my yard with it.

Dubus might not be in a position to be having confused spiritual revelations (what, God never lets bad things happen?) if he'd gotten stabbed by that drunk.

The whole "it's okay to like guns because they're pretty, but not because you want to, like, USE them" thing doesn't make much sense either.

Mr. Dubus has a good reason not to carry a gun. He is afraid he might kill someone. Anyone contemplating carrying a gun for self defense must come to terms with the fact, that self defense might result in the attacker dying.

Ms. Brett doesn't seem to understand that it is possible to come to terms with the use of deadly force for self defense. Anti-gunners like Ms. Brett often find this concept baffling. They don't understand that ones own, or another innocent person's life, is worth more than that of a predator.

Can't comment because I didn't read the piece, because you can't pay me enough. But Brett is even worse than Mrs. Sherrod Brown.

I disagree with Mr Quick, for I see no larger azzole on the PD staff than PULITZER PRIZE WINNER CONNIE SCHULZ who is, as he pointed out, married to the Oh-Two thief Brown.
Quit readin' the Pud Squealer after they devoted a section to Hopey McChange before his inaugural. Haven't missed it - cause I don't care about the Cavs and the Tribe sucks...

We dropped the PD last year. Why pay people who sneer at everything I believe in?

WV: gases

Pretty much says it all, really.

I live in a fairly decent area so I have no fear of my neighbors and if one stole my lawnmower they'd be doing me a favor.

Actually I fear no person. I am a little concerned about the crackheads that drive through here from the barrio to go downtown and score their dope. Especially when my kids and grandkids come to visit.
