Me: "I think I'm going to go see that new animated movie, Up, early tomorrow afternoon. It's in 3D."
Him: "Oh? Are you going with Nicole?"
Me: "No, I'm going by myself, Nicole has to work. Do you want me to wait so you can see it with me?"
Him: "Nah. It's one of those Pixar movies."
Me: "What! You like Pixar - you loved The Incredibles. Oh! And Ratatouille."
Him: "Yeah, but they'd be better if they were more violent. You know, gasoline explosions and stuff."

Well, I loved the movie, even without gasoline explosions. The 3D animation was just gorgeous and the story, well...

Let me guess. The story was... UPlifting...
:)
While it's under the Disney label, Pixar's Andrew Stanton is going to direct the 'John Carter of Mars' movie. He might like that. Swords, wars, fliers, scantily clad women (and men, if they stay faithful to the books), savage green Martians with six limbs and even more savage Martian beasts with even more limbs.
Oh, I loved it! Though I freakin' BAWLED at the "growing older" segments with his wife. *sniffle*
I wish he could have kept Ellie's adventure book, but I loved where the house landed and that he ended up with the real Spirit of Adventure.
My wife and I saw it and we loved it. Tell your hubby there is shooting, yelling, screaming, airplane strafing and crashes.
He'd love it.
...Squirrel!
The Martian Tales of Edgar Rice Burroughs is coming to film? Is it live action or animated? How are they going to fit an 11 book series into a 2 hour movie?
Great movie. Daughter and I both loved it.
I must have been allergic to something in the theater though because my eyes kept watering. :)
Wai: yes. Check 'John Carter of Mars' on imdb.
Oh well, here: live action with lots of fx, the leads have been chosen (Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins)(and the usual griping on the imdb board has began, they are of course absolutely wrong for the parts)(well, they don't look much like my images of John Carter and Dejah Thoris either), and the movie should be mostly based on 'The Princess of Mars'. And there have been rumors that there should be a trilogy, based on the first three books, if the first one will do well enough in the box office.
The usual. Could be great if done well. If not (shrugs).
Between UP and Gran Tornino I have the idea of the perfect end of the old man stuff, find a youngster to take into adulthood and adventure. Can't wait for John Carter of Mars, I have never figured out how two extra arms worked, but know it would be awesome.
