our sunny, gunny Sunday

Our friend Heath generously invited us out to his family's farm for some serious recoil therapy. Mike was shooting a Garand sent to us all the way from Texas courtesy of Robert Langham of Blackfork fame. He needed to get in some practice for the upcoming national matches at Camp Perry. I tried out the M1 Carbine plus a lot of other rifles, all of them for the first time ever.

I have lots more photos and quite a few more videos but I'll have to post them another time - it's late and I'm sore, sunburned, bruised and exhausted...in other words, I had a very good day.

Lot of good iron laying around in those images. Is that a real .30 cal machine gun in the background?

I see some pretty neat armament lying about there. What better way to spend the day?

Looks like you had fun.

(the machine gun is a semi-auto only)

Video to look forward to, too. Nice day, very nice Americans enjoying the finest things quality firearms and shooting safely and sanely. Doesn't get better than that.

That's a semi-auto Browning 1919...

Sounds like you had a great time!

Good stuff.

What'd you think of the AR? Aren't they useful little rifles?

So jealous! I'd LOVE to have open space like that to go shooting.

Where there any tin cans down range?

We need pics of you and Mike crewing the M1919.

Both M1s are a lot of fun.
I shot highpower rifle matches with both many years ago.
The Garand was definetly more suited to the task, but the carbine worked OK on the 200 yard ranges I shot the matches on.

My son just got back from the pistol matches at Perry. I envy him, and anyone else who can go there.
I should have made the trip when I was younger and not so sensitive to pollen and humidity.

Have you and Tam compared scores with the M1 Carbine?

I don't see pink very well (partial red/green colorblind), but I can see some sunburn in that AR15 pic. But, still, even with a sunburn, that still looks like it was a lot of fun.

ARs and M-1 carbines are a lot of fun.

And - I'm jealous.

I counted seven shots and I heard five ricochets.

Was Mike narrating? Excellent work, especially the "Be afraid!" at the end.
