9/11

I bet I'll have to go into work this morning and remind the library administrators that they need to lower the flag to half staff, like I did last year.

I haven't forgotten...and never, ever will.

(staff, not mast. Thank you for the correction.)

I work from home, and I watched it live on TV - the images are seared into my brain. I wish I could forget it.......

I worked in a TV repair shop. I saw it live x 8 sets. Never forget.

Remember half-mast means one flag length from the top, NOT half the length of the flag pole.

I stopped at our rescue station during lunch today (it's walking distance from the barber's), and had to e-mail our facilities Lt. to remind public works to come put our flag to half-mast. (Our location means it has to be secured so the drunks don't screw with it - but they won't let US do it, it has to be public works.)

Of all the #$*&(! places in town to NOT put the flag at half-mast today, they had to forget the &@#! Rescue Squad.

Certainly a defining event in our history. Pearl Harbor, Kennedy assassination, sinking of the Lusitania, 9/11. Sad.
One more thing that is really not important. Flags are only flown at half-mast on a ship. Any other place the correct term is half-staff

I was working the night shift at DirecTV at the time. We not only saw all the regular over-the-air news, but also all the raw feeds from the satellite trucks on-scene.

I was very pleased to drive up to work early this morning and see the flag at half staff. Pretty awesome considering I work for a foreign based company.

Unfortunately, my 14 and 12 year olds barely remember it, and my 11 and 10 year olds don't remember it at all... the older kids only remember Dad disappearing for a year and a half afterward. You try to keep it alive anyway....

Breda,
as someone who has been in the naval service and as a resident of Flagstaff AZ I give you permission to use either term. No correction was needed.
I for one read the sentence and not the word.

I was at work & someone had the cafeteria TV on. I heard the chatter & went to see the broadcast. I got there & was thinking "Damn, didn't another building get hit in the fog back in WWII? How did this dumbass do it on a clear day?" And then the second plane hit.

I ran the whole list of emotions:

WTF?
Oh No!
That can't be an accident!
Who the hell would pull this off?
Someone is going to pay!

All in about 5 seconds.

I can't tell you who was in the room, I can't tell you who said what. But those images are there forever. There is NO forget, there can NEVER be a forgive.
