Is Breda, is (a) safe

I can't begin to imagine what you might put in this thing but what an amazing country, huh? Only here can you get a gun safe bigger than most apartments in Hong Kong.

A walk-in gun safe? I like the way you think.

Didn't realize you were that short ... hell, you can hardly reach the combo dial without a step ladder.

I have a pic of the safe opened up. Its quite impressive. Gonna do a post on it. I also have the booth babes in my pic (not that you don't qualify as a babe - and now that we know about the porn star story . . . . ).

I was all set to order one until I realized it's about 10 feet tall, two feet taller than my ceilings.

That, and you'd have to take out a wall to get it in.

Gotta have a way to keep your howitzer safe.

Ok, that's two posts in the same day that I'm going to be re-posting (yes, I do credit you when I re-post your stuff), AND they're both quite interesting. I do have to say though that this is something that I may consider when I build the addition. :)

Thanks for the great blog, keep up the good work. :)

That gun safe would actually BECOME my house, seeing as it's taller than the one I currently occupy. Hey, who wouldn't want to bitterly cling to the guns in the comfort and privacy of a fire-resistant, secure box?

Hum. They raised the price. As I recall, that safe was made as a one-off marketing gimmick for SHOT 2010, then they found out people actually would buy it... so they set the price at $12,000 delivered - a steal in anyone's book, I think.

I do have to question the real point of it, though: you need a ladder to get to the top shelves, and unless you are building a house around it, how do you get it in to begin with?

I'd rather spend $5-7k on a couple large safes that can be moved around a bit more easily, and then bolted down. Or spend the $15k price tag for that safe on a safe door ($3k) and rebuilding the cellar into a proper walk-in gun showroom. :-)

Clearly anyone who would buy such a big safe is compensating for the size of their.......something.

I've seen bank vaults smaller than that. Sheesh.

In Florida, that would come in handy during hurricane season!

No, Mike, I can see a use.

If you happen to have an 105mm mountain/airborne howitzer, and you want to store it broken down, it should fit nicely with all the accoutrements. Even if you have a longer post-war barrel on it, that'll go upright.

{chuckle}

Yes, but what if you happen to have one of those evil shoulder things that go up?! Then we're all doomed! No safe can contain such a destructive force! Carolyn McCarthy told me so!

The safe is regular sized. Less than 6 feet. It's just that Breda is REALLY short.

NJT

You are in so much trouble now!

(Though I must admit that I thought it as well. Too chicken to actually put it in print.)

Oh, Hi, Breda! No. We weren't talking about you. We were talking about somebody named Brenda. Yeah. That's right. Brenda. What's that? We left out the "N"? Oh, crap!

Mike W. said...

Yeah, that Brenda woman is a midget...

she's like an elf or fae or sprite or hobbit. Less hair than a hobbit.

Meh- I think some friends of mine actually have bigger ones :-) They just have safe doors that open into complete rooms! But it IS a cute pic :-)

This is a sign, it is intended for Breda!

Only she can let one of those fancy oak stack ladders follower her home so that she can properly work the safe.

That looks almost big enough to contain HALF of Tam's collection...

A drive-in safe? I like it.

New Jovian, prepare for thunderbolts! {grin}

Besides I am a Hobbit, and Breda has NEVER been to one of the meetings.

Now I'm off for Second Supper and a good brushing of my toes. . .
