@the movies2

I loved Sucker Punch. LOVED. IT.

Aside from the delicious eye candy (set design, CGI, costumes & makeup, oh my!) you get robots, slicing and dicing with samurai swords, orcs, excellent gasoline explosions, guns* and Bjork in the soundtrack. I was basically set to permasquee once the first action sequence started - the heroine uses a gussied up 1911 to obliterate Nazi steampunk zombies (yes, really!) and shoots down an airship. The sum of the movie leading up to this scene, in my opinion, pretty much justified the matinee ticket price. And then, as if that's not enough, there's a dragon and the most amazing pair of glitter thigh high stockings you've ever seen in your life.

(see a close up of the gun charms here)

So it's not Citizen Kane. So what?

*pistols, machine guns, shotguns, some sort of rocket launcher and a flying robot with Gatling guns. Lots of shooty & 'splodey.

My roommate is an AV geek & does editing on the side for extra money. He couldn't stop raving about this movie.

I need to go see it.

Told you you would enjoy it ;).

So the charms are the characters... that is what I was figuring in the movie, but they were never still enough for me to be sure.

It was highly enjoyable, made moreso because whoever sequenced the action scenes got some consultants who made the girls look wholely competant at firearms handling. I went with myself and another gun nut, and two 'normal' joes. The normal joes were enthused with action and hot chicks. We gun nuts were like "Reloads! Avoiding Muzzling eachother! Hot chicks with guns who looked like they knew what they were doing! (It didn't matter they were chicks, it was just a giant bonus). Plot? Eh, who cares.

(though I will say, Rocket and Baby Doll must be tiny, they made an UMP-45 and a MP-5 PWD look almost *huge*.)

Nazi steampunk zombies.

Sorry, I just wanted to type that myself to see if it felt as awesome to type those words as it did to read them. It did. :D

The action scenes weren't enough. And the "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" parts strained credibility quite amazingly for a movie that has a dragon chasing a B-25. I wish it had been all amazing action without trying to do the multi-layered reality thing.

I was hankering to see this movie the first time I saw the trailer. The soundtrack was superb. Loved it. I'd like to think it was a nod to my favorite Ambrose Bierce story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, it was perfect to get my mind off school. I feel like I need to watch it a few more times to pick up on things I missed the first time around.

Hate to be the spoil sport, but those steampunk zombies were set in WWI so not Nazi, no matter how cool "Nazi Steampunk Zombies" would be as a rock band name.

The sky full of Fokker DRI and Zepplins should have been a dead giveaway folks.

There were anachronisms all over. The guns used. The B-29 bomber. The Rabit Faced Mech-Warrior!

Steampunk Nazi Zombies!!
