Good Guy #1: "What about his civil rights?"
Good Guy #2: "Fuck his civil rights."
Breda: "..........I really hope that guy's dead by the end of the movie."

Yeah, I honestly thought the 'bad guy' was supposed to be the good guy until about 2/3rds into the film.
Also, I totally thought that having 'the baddie' win would make a much happier ending...
I thought it was a really good movie until I got to the end and realized Gerard Butler wasn't the good guy...
What do you mean, the character Clyde Shelton, played by Butler, was not the good guy! Sure he was the good guy. This movie had the all time worst and most disappointing ending of any movie I have ever seen.
That made L.A. Noire a tough slog, too. There are about five times when a suspect will say "you can't look search my place without a warrant" and your partner says something like "shut your goddam mouth and sit quietly while we look around", after which you have to search the house/office/warehouse to advance the game.
Interesting use of 'good' and 'bad' in that movie. I rooted for Leonidas.
And, really, scary CIA guy didn't answer his door armed?

I spent the entire movie rooting for the bad guy, honestly.
The biggest thing that stood out to me was that HE WAS RIGHT! Damn near everything he did was based on a system of beliefs that holds the evil people, and those who willing abet evil, responsible in the ultimate way.
To this day, the biggest thing I take away from that flick was from the execution scene in the beginning... "it'll look like he's going to sleep" or something like that.
YOU HAVE TAKEN STEPS TO END A HUMAN LIFE!!!
I don't think we exercise the death penalty enough in this country (and I think that SCOTUS decision that recidivistic sex offenders, particularly those who prey on children - but I repeat myself - was tragically wrong).
I also think that those who work to get somebody convicted and END HIS LIFE should have to actually watch a man die. Doesn't have to be drawn-out or torturous, just unmistakable.
A frangible round to the back of the head, right into the brain stem ought to take care of it.
I loved that movie...the good guy died in the end, but he went down victorious. He destroyed the (shaky, at best) world-view of his final enemy. The fight will continue.

@Uncle, I didn't think he was CIA until after that happened.
I really wanted Butler's character to win, it seemed like the entire movie was building up to him being the hero only have you realize that the guy you've been rooting for is the bad guy.
Agree with everyone else...it wouldn't have been quite as bad if Jaime Fox's character had had a single good personality trait..
I enjoyed the movie until the end which betrayed the movie.
I agree with others that the "good guys" in this movie make it very hard to pull for them. Sorry your daughter had to see the video, but you did let the man walk free who raped and killed his daughter....
I honestly didn't know until reading this comment thread that Clyde Shelton wasn't the good guy...
Actually I'm still pretty sure he was, and the whole movie was one of those "good guy looses" movies.
