you choose

Ever since I got out of high school, my hair has been a problem. I have had every hairstyle imaginable and have never been satisfied. I even was willing to shave my head bald as moral support for my mom when she was going through chemotherapy. She wouldn't let me, but I did get the shortest pixie cut possible. We went out and bought some big shiny earrings, some lipstick, and rocked our new looks. Bald is not a bad look on a woman, as evidenced by Sinéad O'Connor. It really makes the most of your eyes and bone structure. (plus, it's very low maintenance!) But, as tempting as it is, I am not going to shave my head. At least not now.

So, I need some help. Should I keep my current cut, or start the growing out process (for the thousandth time?)

This is kind of like my hair now:

(Style A)

But I really like this haircut:

(Style B)

I'm hoping someone more stylish than me (this would not be difficult) is reading this blog and can offer some advice. The less blowdrying required, the better.

If I were to offer someone style advice, especially in regards to hair, you would be able to hear my sister laugh all the way from Atlanta.

My idea of hair styling for the last half-decade has been to hack the dead ends off once a year whether they need it or not, and prior to that my instructions to stylists ran along the lines of "I dunno, you're the one who went to school for this. Just please don't make me look ugly."

Tam, that is almost exactly what I say to the stylists, too. They seem a little taken aback that all I want is something simple that doesn't look stupid. So I'm thinking something a bit longer with bangs, throw it in a pontytail sometimes - easy! Right?

I really wanted to help you with this but I'm not seeing the pics. :)

maybe I can fix it.

The longer the better.

style B is cute!!! i'm sortof going for something along those lines, though i can't stand bangs. i had style 1 for about a year (sometimes the back was stacked, sometimes it was grown out a little), and while i like it, i think it's always good to change things up a bit.

I think the style you have in your profile pic is just fine.

Then again I'm a guy so I know nothing, other than I don't like bangs.

I say go crazy and dye it green, blue, or some other outrageous color.

The guy with the shaved head will opine thusly:

1. Longer is better.

2. Shaved is NOT low maintenance.

3. Beauty comes from within. Choose whatever makes you happiest.

Mine advice is exactly the same as Jay's (I have a shaved head also).

Heh heh......
Just had mine cut last night. Once again she asked, for the bazillionth time, "How short?". Once again I answered "Lady, I don't own a comb".

I like Number B, and voted that way. I think it would look good on you. Then again, I think you will look good no matter what you do. I Don't think you have a choice about that.

I chose "other", not because I have this kick-ass idea for a hairstyle for you, but because style "a" looks like it would require blow-drying, styling, and products to make it floofy, and I think style "b" might drive you mad with the bangs constantly in your face.
Wow, not very helpful, huh? :(

Love women with long hair, women don't care what I love, they cut it when they don't want my animal attention - I really do think a good heart and healthy laugh will trump any beautiful hair on a have no heart and never been happy harpy... you did the woman trick of asking others, the only one you need to impress is the guy getting Japanese snacks (too much rice is not good), ask him, he really cares.

Although I think your current style is fabulous, Polly Jean would never steer you wrong.

phlegmmy - your previous PJ post was the inspiration!

You're Irish. Go wavy and red.

A large percentage of the Irish are dark like me. The "every Irish person has red hair, green eyes and freckles" thing is an American myth.

What's wrong with the style in your photo?

Then again, I'm about as style conscious as a hamster so I'd take whatever I say with all due caution.

They kinda look like the same haircut to me.
