just curious

Okay, let me get this straight.

For eight years now, we've been seeing images like this:

We were supposed to chuckle, shrug, pay no attention, comment on a person's right to free speech, or remark that yes, there really are similarities. Being offended has never been an option.

But suddenly now

we're all expected to rise up with an outraged "How dare you!", and cry racism?

(& hey, most of us look like monkeys in one way or another, if you think about it. Family resemblance? )

Both of them have rather large, protruding ears. It's not a massive leap of logic...

Yes. Comparing a white man to an ape and comparing a black man to an ape carry two very different messages in our society.

Why is it racist to suggest that even zoo animals would prefer one candidate?

It's the banana that's bothering them...

Hey, we are all equal, they are just more equal than we are so don't pick on them. . . .

Actually, since Obama's mom was white - isn't it only sending one-and-a-half different messages in our society? Just askin.

The left is going to be all sensitive about their guy getting poked fun at; at least that will give us one tiny spark to light the darkness coming our way. It's a small consolation to say the least.

poetic justice, though, that even the "first black president" is now being called "racist"...

It's all so very tiresome, these double-standards.

Both comparisons were an insult to monkeys every where.

No right thinking monkey would EVER run for office.

Word verification: alzom

alzom? A lion zips out mayonnaise?

These acronym games are HARD!

Oh, it's about the monkey?

I thought the outrage was about some guy who didn't have a clue getting into all kinds of trouble and waiting for "the man" in the yellow hat to bail him out.

Silly me, emotionally retarded enough to NOT look past race and racism.

D'oh, brain faster then fingers and proof reading not fast enough.

Silly me, NOT emotionally retarded enough to NOT look past race and racism. Was going for that double negative thing...much like this election.

An affront is an affront.

Is the Obama poster offensive? Sure.

Just like the one that attacked our President is.

You got it, kid. The rules are about to change. Again.

Remember in 2000, when George Bush was being called "the least experienced person to ever run for president"?

Where are those calls now?

How about the whole "chickenhawk" theme - that because Bush didn't serve in a war zone, he couldn't order our troops into harm's way?

How's that working out for Obama? Are we to believe these same people will defy any use of force Obama deems necessary? Don't bank on it, because these are the same people that cheerlead Bill Clinton's decision to bomb Iraq the night before impeachment who, a mere 5 years later, were claiming Bush had no right to resume hostilities in Iraq.

Ann Coulter put it best: For liberals, history began this morning...

When the Left does stuff like this it is considered just a joke or pun.

When the Right does the exact same thing then it is racist and inflammatory.

What's the matter Breda? Haven't you been reading your copy of "How to Be a Good Leftist Liberal Elitist" lately?

I'm not a Righty or a Lefty. I'm Libertarian and I think even if the POTUS is not the greatest we've had that it dishonors our country and our way of life to make fun of him in such ways.

A joke now and then is one thing. When people and the news media publicly and brazenly show such disrespect to the President, I think they should be dragged off and shot.

There is nothing I'd love to do better than publicly and brazenly kick Keith Olbermann's ass. Better yet I'd like to kick his smug face up his ass right along with the rest of the hard left and hard right elitists that talk trash and show stuff like this on national TV.

My 2 cents.

Joe

P.S. - Dubya may not be the greatest or the smartest POTUS we've ever had but I garaundarntee you he's done a much finer job than the lily livered Pope Al Gore of the Church of All Global Warming would have ever done. That punk would have turned tail and run when 9/11 happened. We'd still be kissing the Middle East's ass if Al was in office.
