fresh out of outrage

You know...I was planning this whole post about how I feel like I live in upside-down topsy-turvey, inside-out & backwards land when I read the news lately. Dissent is no longer patriotic, the feds are asking us to rat on our neighbors, 11-year olds ask tougher questions of Obama than the press corps, astroturfing is now grassroots, grassroots is political terrorism, and everything else is racist.

Gosh, when Harry Reid is calling other people evil, you know something is seriously wrong.

I admit I'm new at paying attention to politics but I read the news like a crack addict looking for a fix. I refresh HotAir hourly. I follow links to their original source. I read comments. I hate weekends because the news cycle is so slow. I know things three days before it hits the local papers. I only look at CNN to see what they are neglecting to tell the American people. I search Google news. I...

I'm tired.

Two days this week HotAir broke one million visits.

Must be all the manufactured outrage...

I have been reading "The First American Revolution: Before Lexington and Concord."

Americans then were shutting down courts, forcing British officials to resign their posts, and generally acting more rowdy than anyone, so far, at the latest Town Halls.
It gives some interesting perspective to the current flap.
I recommend it.

Right there with ya, Breda.

I read HotAir too, but I don't subscribe to many of their points-of-view (I'm looking at you, Allahpundit), I do read the headlines.

More of my 'news' comes from Ace of Spades and protein wisdom.

And the tv hasn't been on past 6:30 in a long time!

Sounds like you need some recoil therapy

I just heard on NPR that people who oppose Obamacare are "exploited and controlled by the militia movement". Also we are all poor, white, wave confederate flags and (nasty inflection in voice) carry guuuuuuuuuns. The only way to cure this, apparently, is for us to see that we are misunderstood cousins of poor blacks, and we should support Obama unconditionally as our better-adjusted cousins do.

Ah, NPR... The number 1 way to almost make your head explode as you drive to get a sandwich.

Agreed! It's really disgusting.

Thanks lass.

It's good to know we'll be handing over the Republic (if there's anything left of it) to younger folks who PAY ATTENTION.

Good on ya'...

Not just tired, more than a little scared by all of this. Take a look at season's 2 & 3 of Babylon 5. Makes you wonder if JMS say Obama coming.

Everyone gets that slap-in-the-face at some point or another when they realize that politics directly affects them---at a personal level. It seems that the current crop of school grads have been isolated from reality and boast they don't follow political events.

Poor babies. They will learn. Some early as mw wife and I. Some, to their detriment, late.

But, when the tax bill---or compliance office arrives at the door, it's too late to made a change.

That's reality. All bills and taxes come due and payment will be paid, one way or another.

I'm with you, ma'am. I find myself kicking furniture whilst reading the news, mainstream and electric.
Why do we feel amazed at the lack of coverage? Do not we know better than to expect anything else?
Call, write, email your Congressional critters. Let them know your displeasure and, more importantly, what you want. At this point, it is all we can do. It is still a fer piece from secession.

You'll perk right up when you get your biweekly check from the health-insurance lobby. Whoops, did I say that out loud?

I've come to the conclusion that being a political junkie is as draining a hobby as smoking, only less relaxing.

But you have to admit, the circular firing squads now forming up in the Democratic party are funny as Hell to watch.

Is anybody else tired of listening/watching the "news" while giving a perpetual middle-finger salute?
