Drilling (& why to try)

Newbius had brought a beautiful old long gun to Northcoast II and everyone who shot it was ooh'ing over the recoil. I hung back, watching.

Mike said, "You want to try it?" He was grinning.

I demurred. No, no. Too much for little ol' me. Alan nodded. "Do it." Everyone was looking at me expectantly.

Fine. I'll shoot anything once, or at least try - I had promised myself that long ago.

*language warning*

Uh..okay. I guess I'll try again.

And yes, I liked it so much, I DID shoot it again.
(3rd video and excellent NCII AAR at New Jovian Thunderbolt's blog. Go see!)

hat tip

At the very end of NCII, while we were cleaning up the destruction, THOTpd found a perfect (and hilarious) photo op.

A blogshoot referencing another blogshoot. I love the internet.

NC II

Well, Northcoast II is fast approaching and unfortunately (for you), I've got to stop taking RSVPs. Space is very limited and my mom can only make so much potato salad.

But stay tuned for the after action reports - food, friends, and some really big guns.

Northcoast II

Bacon, bullets, and beer...bring it.

Seriously, people, Heath and I need definite RSVPs so we can start planning. Email me at bredafallacy AT gmail DOT com, subject line Northcoast, and let me know if you're planning on joining us. Space is limited.

Discuss, III

I'm thinking of a Northcoast pre-holiday evening happy hour get together at Willoughby Brewing Company. Anyone interested?

Best gun for a woman?

I'm going to go with this one...

special thanks to videographer extraordinaire, JayG!

say hello to my little friend

We giggled about the boys, compared nailpolish (green and glitter, natch), went on a hayride, tried on silly sunglasses, had a gun show 'n' tell* and, of course, we shot together.

Some of the guns weren't even pink.

(a little gunchick, shooting an M1 Carbine & grinning the entire time)

*she owns a pink cricket rifle and two pretty little revolvers. She's 10...and she's awesome.

Northcoast blogmeet pt. 3

JayG and Tbolt have excellent after action reports, so I won't rehash everything that's already been said but I will share some photos...

We had guns. Lots of guns. Glorious guns. Two trailers full. (no one counted how many but, really - it was almost obscene levels of gun porn.) Here's just a few...

And, of course, all those guns needed shooting.

Old guns...
New guns...
Pink guns...
Evil black guns...
Shotguns...
...which I didn't get a photo of because they and I still do not get along at all, and I'm terribly annoyed about it. I dream of blogshoots where the shotguns come out first, not as the sun is setting and my arms are like wet noodles.

Handguns...which I didn't get any action shots of because I was just way too busy having fun shooting them!

And, of course, my favorite of the day....Newbius's 308. I am rarely as happy as I am when I'm proned out with a rifle, getting a gorgeous bruise as a souvenir. I made a smiley face on my paper plate target. Shooting through the same hole over and over can get so boring, don't you think?

And for good measure, here I am trying out a Garand with a scope. Brilliant.

Northcoast blogmeet pt.1

It has begun...

& so far everyone's survived.

Time to make the pig candy!

the first ever Northcoast blogmeet!

I'm so excited. JayG is coming to visit! And in his honor, our mutual friend Heath and I are planning a little food & shooty shindig for Saturday, October 9th.

Since we're holding it at an undisclosed location, it's an RSVP only event. We'll make sure to send you directions once you've cleared the background check. I'm kidding, of course - you'll only be required to sign a waiver. In blood. After performing the secret handshake.

Anyway, we're doing the meat and some sides, but if you're coming we'd really appreciate it if you could bring something to share - your favorite potluck dish or something to drink.

So if you'd like to come and hang out with us for a day, email me! (Hurry! I need a headcount!)
